Goz5 - Random Rumble

Preflight check: nada

IBT: Istanbul spear -> spear

T2: 2470BC See wines to our S.

Edrine worker -> warrior

T3: 2430BC Rename worker, hit shift-A and cry

T4: 2390BC IBT: Istanbul spear -> settler

T5: 2350BC All techs are spread around now. Buy IW from India for 5gpt and 125g. Iron is located just NE of Edrine.

T7: 2270BC IBT: Edrine warrior -> settler

T10: 2150BC Blocking Russian warrior/settler pair from going for the iron. IBT: Istanbul settler -> barracks

T11: 2110BC I know the wheat is important but I want the iron. Send settler that way and use the 2 warriors and spear to block the Russians.

T15: 1950BC Found Bursa near the iron. Russian worker keeps popping in and out of Istanbul (2 turns now) :smoke:

Iron is 1T S of Bursa. Let's see how long it takes to connect :lol:

could someone do me a favor and rid me of my RL?

I just got back to my PC, playing now.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, open the save and there's the first problem - what are the 'usual' niceties?

Can I settle in contact with the AI border if there remain two tiles between the new town and AI town?
I have seen the AIs do that since 1.22 C3C, but I simply play to few SGs to know what the general feeling is about this.....

preturn: looks fine!

(1) - :slapforehead: #1 - our two workers decide to split and go to the hill outside our borders and the mountain within them between Bursa and Edirne. Super! Aside from that - :yawn:

(2) - the Indians start the Orcale. Moving our troops to prepare blocking the Russian settler who is heading SW within the brown borders. I BET it goes for the river/wines/wheat combo. :( Our mountain fetishist walks on to the iron hill :)

(3) - bleh, andother settler, this one with Spear, leaves St.Peter southwards. We will NOT get the wines, whatever the 'usual' niceties are. Iron in 3. MM gives faster settler in Edirne.

(4) - Yekaterinenburg is a sucker, but at least not the wines. Lux --> 10 for Edrine.

(5) - settler done in Edrine. Colossus done in Entremont. Can I get a swap of these two????

[grrr, PSP crash, can't save... I wanted ot post a screenie to ask if I can found in a certain place. Will keep trying]

no go today it seems.

OK, can I settle the tile SW, across the river from the wine, which will steal the mined and roaded wheat on plains tile from Russia?

You can settle anywhere you like as long as it's not in a friendly civs territory :)

To build pressure cities is fine, but the AI doesn't like very much and might get unhappy. I'm not worried about that though, we need territory more than happy neighbours.

(6) - Iron connected! Where has that Russian settler gone? He may be trying to go for the wines - move troops close enough to monitor our SW border and potentially block him.

(7) - settler in place, Barracks in out capital. I order a Spear for now, as growth is too slow to go for a settler outright.

(8) - Cathy demands 22 Gold. What can I do? :sigh: :mad:
The Russian settler indeed appears, next to Rostov. ATM, two warriors have him under control. Iznik founded - 'is nix wines, Cathy!'

But Cathy lears how to write this turn :(

(9) - Bursa builds a Spear. I know it could be argued this is wasted shields, but I do see AIs attacking us rather sooner than later..... India and Russia exchange Writing for Maths! :eek:

(10) - We have a block for the Russian settler in place, the iron is mined and thus in use now :D and we are hopelessly behind in tech.

All towns are on a production atm that needs to be discussed and most probabaly changed. Do we have time to let Edrine build a Granary? Do we want another one in Bursa? We need to settle, settle, settle, but the AIs will swamp us with settlers faster than our cities can grow :(

We should also discuss our intended tech path and possible buys. I could not get writing to trade it to India - WHAM next turn they trade math/wri.... If this goes on and we keep missing possible 2fers --> :(

yellow: the nosy Russian settler and its planned path, AFAI can tell.
indigo: two indian warriors and their direction of exploration - expect them to waltz through our lands.

and the save:Random Rumble 1600BC

After looking at the save it looks like we have three luxes in view and the critical resource connected.

Modest proposals:

Settling to the east and south and using our warriors to waltz with any interlopers.

As my graphics skills are at minimal level could some one put together a dot map?

Iznik needs a barracks and then warriors until it hooks to the iron. Erdrine should get its granary and Bursa a barracks.

Istanbul can just as well build spears right now for MP, garrisons and Russian and India discouragement.

Comments?

Thanks, goz.

We are thinking alike here.

Will run off ten tomorrow night.

Nice dot map. We'll have some nice fishing villages down in the tundra.

Carrying out the plans outlined above. Trying to blockade the Russians, building a granary in Erdrine, barracks in Iznik.

Indian warrior is running interference for Russian warrior/settler pair by Erdrine.

Making a run at Philosophy at max due in 10 (80%sci-20%lux as garrisons are running around playing blockers).

Russians have an archer and warrior at the gates to Iznik.

Might want to consider embassies with India and Russia for the intelligence.

Biff is on his way home after getting booted from India.

We need to think about capturing/razing Moscow. Otherwise Izmit is a flip risk.

I am gone until Nov. 20 from today on. I may have inermitttent net access though and thus may be able to comment (for what that's worth).

I doubt we can afford a war right now? Or maybe a few swords could make it happen. It's certainly something we should discuss anyways.

But I also want those cities planted and some curraghs out. We want a whole lot here I suppose :)
