we have to make sure the aluminum stays disconnected at all times. I'd suggest to land there first rather than taking out Moskow. But maybe I am wrong. We also have to be careful about culture, since without Babs we would lose the culture raze
 
Disconnecting the aluminum is a good idea. I'm about half way through and I was just contemplating the next move.

actually I think the aluminum was disconnected already.
thinking about it, maybe it's a good idea to nuke Moskow and then take it out, rather than worry about aluminum disconnection. hope we can set up for an invasion.

Bugs, I know this game take a long time for turns, maybe you want to do only 5 (since you said you are 1/2 way through) and post them, so this game can go on. it has been a week since the last turnset posted.
 
My apologies. I'll have it up tomorrow. It seems as soon as I get it started, something comes up to make me set it down again.
 
we have the UN, have we eliminated the vikings yet? if so, maybe a UN vote will win it, since the babylonians are at war with russia too (at least on my turnset). at least, they won't vote for Russia.
 
@Bugs, as much as I would really like you to play and post your turns, but it has been 10 days since the last turnset, 2 days since your promise. It's a little sad, I will take this game on tomorrow unless, of course, you post your turns. if you are unable to play 10, you can post your 5 turns, no issue.
 
yep, bugs, these turns take very long, so 5T sets should be fine. how about you post what you got so we avoid the slowdown like in Goz6 (i actually forgot about that game till you bumped it :lol: ).

some thought for the next 5 turns of my play. I would love to attack Russia at the aluminum spot, we MUST make sure its disconnected at all times, right now it's up again and I have to send and sacrifice bombers again. Once the nukes are up I want to send armies over and establish a beach head. By the way, Babs have 2 aluminum, once they make peace, there is a chance of Russia getting it from them.
We need to bring Babs to OCC sooner rather than later as well.

KB, I wish you good luck and get at the throat of Russia. we need to delete their cities to cut down their culture as well, since they have more than double than us

Preturn- We look alright for the situation.

IT- Wow, this is epic. Shoot down bombers, get the news that Russia and Babylon sign peace.

T1 1832

Spend a while optimizing our builds and cities. Upgrade some tanks to MA, some infantry to Mechs. I don't think I've been in a game where it was feasible to try and go for Robotics to get to Radar Artillery. However, I think that getting it would be of great help in busting through the Russians. I'll look into it.

IT- A Russian sub frags our transport full of marines, but on the bright side we frag 6 Russian bombers.

T2 1834

Kill the offending sub. I try to pull together a naval fleet. We have two transports full of arty now on their way over, covered with eveything I could find. With some arty support for our forces, this won't be so scary. Another factor for it not being a sscary is the fact that Russia now only has 4 bombers.

IT- We frag two more bombers. Whoa, a mech actually attacks our infantry army. We win easily.

T3 1836

It really hits me that Russia will win by culture sooner rather than later. Time to hit up some offensive action. Its a meager start, but we burn Smolensk in the tundra, disconecting an oil supply.

IT- More of the same.

T4 1838

I move our SoD towards Rostov, time to start killing some Metros. We also immediately steal Miniturization from Russia.

IT- frag more bombers, this is great stuff.

T5 1840

Move stack in range of Rostov. Not much else of note.

IT- Get a real good scare as our infantry army was damaged enough that Russian tanks attacked. We survive though.

T6 1842

Try to bombard Rostov but not enough luck to attack yet. Need to let our armies heal a bit. Pull off another steal, grab Nuclear Power.

IT- Same old stuff.

T7 1844

I give up on Rostov for now due to lack of arty. Will pull back towards coast to pick up reinforcements and frag smaller cities first. Steal immediately again and pick up Satellites.

IT- Same as always.

T8 1846

Move stack towards coast, move a tank ary back to the aluminum to ensure its disconnected status.

IT- Same old

T9 1848

Stack is ready to raze again and free up some real estate on the coast next turn. Feel lucky and steal the Laser from the Babs. At this pace it might be easier to build the space ship before Russia out cultures us :lol:

IT- Same old.

T10 1850

Raze Murmansk. Doesn't free up much space. Dammit, moving a transport to drop off some arty it runs into a sub and dies.



Summary

I think we may need to form a beachhead town. The russians will pour into it, but with some mechs it will stand. We need to consolidate more forces. We need more arty there, it would be easier if we could airlift everything we need. I started a city on the Apollo Program as we really might need to try and squeak out a space race if our military plans don't go as planned. We can switch it back to an ICBM if that seems unwise.

seems to go slow, maybe too slow. I noticed the culture problem, maybe we need to up our culture and raze more Russian towns. agree with a city, with any luck we can get leaders and rush a defensive MI army, that would fend off a lot. We MUST make sure Babs don't get uranium and Russians don't get aluminum. If thats the case, we need to disconnect Babs 2 aluminum sources.

I fear ICBM or tactical nukes might provoke Babs into declaring on us.

Could we use ICBM's as prebuilds for SS?

Grahamiam is up, Bugs on deck (if he can take turns, which i think would be great)

I had a look at the save, I hope you don't mind a few suggestions. there are many fortified arties at our SOD. In order to prevent our MA's to be attacked I suggest to wake arty and bomb the surrounding tiles to make sure units cannot reach us. We could even use the buttercup army to disconnect a tile.
I am sure Russia will send units out to attack MA's. That would mean a potential huge stack of units approaching. We could take it out using our tactical nukes. We have 4 and one fortified nuc sub could take it and immediately rush towards Russia to intercept before the IT.

Also, it seems we make exactly have of Russia's culture, we could build cheap libraries and temples for additional culture.

Since Russia has 4 tac nukes, I strongly advise against building a city over there. Once it won't be within the Russian perimeter, I am sure we get nuked and would sacrifice a lot of units.

We can slowly work our way to Moskow and once we took that out, I am sure we could also get to Babs to take out their capital. I am quite positive we can win this. But we must play careful.
 
bahh, i cut down on my sg's and i'm still up in 3! i have sgotm6 to finish tonight, then LK92 tomorrow. i probably won't start this till Tues night/Weds and won't finish till Thurs/Fri.
 
what about Sir Bugs taking it in between, if he is able to take it? for maybe 5 turns?
I think we can win this game pretty fast btw. once we have Apollo, we can switch a lot of cities to SS production and get our 10 parts.
and if worse comes to worst, we can sabotage their production with all the money we make. our trade embargo goes another 9 turns, quite safe.
