Defiant and cocky, that's'r'us.

Anyone with time on their hands can take the save from now until after New Years. I will let the roster go and you can take your turns in any fashion. If someone doesn't show up in time, the player with time can grab it.

I can't play much the next following week and might not even be online. So I think you guys can handle this while I'm away.

Pre-flight – 750 BC - We have stopped making settlers with land to settle. I change the capitol to a settler. MM Lagash to get growth next turn. Grab Osman by the beard, drag him to the peace table. “WE ARE A PEACEFUL PEOPLE!” I scream at him. He gives us CB & 23G for peace. “Now leave us alone!”

IBT – Umma survives two Viking warrior attacks, but here come some barbs.
At Bad-tibera I start a pre-build.

730 – Kill two barbs, two Vik warriors and a Vik archer. Lose a horse. March on Haried with a force of two archers, a horse and an Endiku. Zeus is now due in eight.

IBT – Lose a vet Endiku to a conscript barb horse.

710 – Kill the barb. Change the pre-build to Umma.
IBT – Vikings complete ToA.
690 – Kill a Vik warrior

The Vikings ran off in the direction of the red arrow. You can attack Odense in two turns with cat support. The Vikings will talk to us now. I wasn’t ready to talk to them.

You're right. I was going by the last defiant rule set I played with Bede. There you could start a peace treaty if it was in your favor. That's what I get for relying on my memory instead of writing it down.

I'm not a big fan of replaying regardless of the situation, but if the team wants me to I will.
 
I don't think you should replay, we beat them pretty badly, I am sure they would have dialled us up sooner or later.
But, since it's gozpel's game, we should ask him for his idea.

IIRC, Russians are holding the GL already, no chance to change. we do not libraries urgently anyway since we do not talk to others
 
i vote we just play on. let's just be more vigilant in the future ;)

that's 3 of 5 and should be good enough as it's a majority. KB is up and goz is on deck.
 
Preturn- Set Promised land to grow again. Rat was right, Ruskies already have GL. Looks like we'll be doing lots of self research. The cheap libraries should help.

IT- 5 Vike archers appear near Odense. We learn Lit, start on Myst to get us closer to Monarchy. I assume we'll be going for Monarchy. Republic is often painful in this type of game.

Move SoD next to Odense. Start Ur on Library.

IT- Three Vike archers will challenge Agade next turn.

Cat bombardment reveals three reg spears in Odense. It is captured at high cost. With Viking units all over by it, holding it during the IT could be tough.

IT- Vike recapture Odense.

I bombard with our cats and kill an archer in Odense.

IT- Its time for it all to hit the fan for the Vikes now as our first AC rolls off the line.

We promptly lose our first AC attacking a spear thats roaming along our borders. We then lose an elite Chariot on that sam redlined spear, promoting it.

Our cats redline three units in Odense and we take out two of them. With no way to reinforce these cities, the Vikes will soon lose them.

IT- Babylon declares war on Ottomans. We learn Myst. Start on Polytheism. Babylon completes Hanging Gardens. Vikes start Sun Tzu and Sistines. We're further behind than I thought. We'll have to be on the lookout for zerks pretty soon.

Odense is weakened further. I also settle a city that wil likely prover hard to defend in the case of more war with the Ottomans, but I do it anyway to secure some silks.

IT- Damn Osman decides to waste my time with his presence. He says something about us helping him fight Babylon. I tell him to shut up and then throw him some of our literary classics in exchange for teaching us how to make maps.

Two spears die and we take Odense again.

Not much. Our troops heal before another conquest.

IT- We get a new AC.

We whack a Viking settler pair for two very welcome slaves.

Summary

We have two new cities. The Vike cities in the south will surely fall. Our SoD is gathering once more. I have a bit of a blockade going on against a Babylonian settler pair right now. However, since it is using three of our horses, I think it is very expendable if we need the horses for anything.
 
well, we are way behind in techs, expected at deity. should we build a galley to explore a little, there must be another island and more contacts would decrease the cost for research if I am not wrong.
what's the longer term strategy since we have no iron. we can't build knights, defeating muskets will be tough. should we try and get up north?
we should build a town NE of promised land on that hill, good for defense.
 
Pre-turn - Swap some tiles between Umma and Lagash, so FP goes from 25 to 14 turns. Otherwise no changes.

Move a couple of units to Bad and Ur as they are undefended and the Babs could be tempted.

330bc - Lagash settler -> horse.

310bc - Ur horse -> settler.
Agade barracks -> horse.

Kill 2 spears and an archer in Alesund and take the city.

290bc - Bad horse -> library.

270bc - I have a stack near Molde, 3 pults miss, so I wait another turn so some horses can help. There's a elite spear in the town and at least one more reg spear.

Take out barbcamp for 25g.

250bc - We learn Polytheism -> Monarchy at 60% for now, due in 17 turns. This might be changed as we get more towns.

Ur settler -> horse.

Assault on Molde: 3 pults hits, AC and horse kills the 2 spears and we take the city.

230bc - Lagash horse -> library.
Erech barracks -> horse.

210bc - Hareid and Odense workers -> libraries.

Zalabam founded -> worker.

190bc - This is bad, 6 Viking MI's and 2 swords shows up N of Promised Lands.

Sweet Salmon library -> horse.
Isin galley -> barracks. The galley better sit in town for a turn, there are a viking galley outside.

Switch Lagash to pult, poprush horses in PL and Erech.

170bc - All 8 vikings are going for Promised lands.

Ur horse -> horse.
Lagash Pult and AC -> horse.
Bad library -> horse.
Promised Land and Erech horses -> EW's

Horses kills 2 swords and 2 MI's, reinforcements will arrive next turn.

150bc - Ragnar wants to talk, he says straight peace and I reneg that offer. Too bad I had negative income on our research, but we get Monarchy and CoL plus a shiny gold-piece. Done.

A few gpt would've given us Currency.

Then the Vikings start Leo's. And Ottomans finish Sun Tsu.

FP is completed in 3 turns.

Time for Monarchy, switch to that right away if we can afford it. We only have 29g, if we turn off research for 3 turns and finish FP, we can be sure.

Swap builds to whatever seems best, maybe a couple poprushes befor we switch Gov?

We can still cram in a few towns here and there and we need more workers. There is much to do.
