The viking town looks great to take. But aren't we supposed to do so already when CoL comes in as gozpel just mentioned?

We should also settle the iron and connect it home, probably.

Also, connect the ivory and put Babylon on Zeus.

Things are moving fast now. I though getting CoL was to start the first war, too. In that case, declare on Rangar and send what ever we can to his ill placed city.

Sorry about not declaring war. I thought we had to have a Bowman to spark our GA? That's why I didn't declare right away.
 
that's alright bugsy, our army is only 11 warriors and 1 spear so maybe common sense needs to prevail here. not sure what else we could build right now but maybe a deal is available for WC or we could connect the horses and build chariots. Need to find out what the vikings put in that town, maybe it's only 1 spear?
 
Probably the spear from the usual settler/spear pair. He will rush a second if he has the pop and we declare. At worst it could be 3, but usually it is only 2 in remote cities even in deity. Did you make up your mind, if I have to declare immediately or have to wait till at least 1 bowman to trigger our GA?
 
CoL starts the 1st war so it's go time. Declare, then see what you can do about building up military before striking. if the best unit we got is a warrior, then i guess that's what we gotta use. if you can get some bowman built, all the better :) with 2 spears in town, you'd probably need 4 or 5 bowman or 10+ warriors. i'm not gonna cry if you don't trigger the GA or somehow snag iron and upgrade a warrior or 3.
 
PreTurn: We buy WC from Iroquis for 4gpt and 32g. Start research of horseback riding. Change cities with barracks (only 2) to bowmen. Declare on Scandinavia. Pray.

I: Sumeria demands 2g - we give.

730BC: Hareid is size 2 and shows a reg. spear. Furs are connected lux still 10%.

I: Archer from Hareid attacks our spear and dies. Germany and Byzantine demand we leave. Iroquis finish the Great Library, Germany finishes the Hanging Gardens.

710BC: I notice the Vikings have the Great Wall :(

I: Our 1st 2 bowmen are produced.

690BC: Move troops to Hareid and cover northern mountain with a warrior.

I: Iroquis go for our iron, bur we already have a warrior covering the only settling place :goodjob:

I: Germany boots us out again - we wont get through so I start to move the warriors back.

650BC: Eulbar founded.

I: Viking archer kills our fortified warrior on a mountain and threatens empty Akkad.

630BC: Whip a bow in Ashur.

I: Vikings sign Theo up against us. Archer moves back.

610BC: We move a warrior to coverAkkad.

I: Vikings move spear from Hareid towards Akkad.

590BC: Our warrior is 1st in Akkad. Spear will need 2 turns back so we take chances next round.

I: Viking spear attacks our warrior in Akkad, but looses - puh.

570BC: Lose a bow to an archer in the open. Lose a warrior and a bowmen taking Hareid. Sign peace with Ragnar; we still have to pay 7gpt + 14g for peace.

I: Bismark boots us again.

550BC: Quell a resister in Hareid. We now have 5 lux connected. We can secure horses next turn. Connecting iron will take long; we should use the time to build horses for knight-upgrade. I spent no cash, so you can take trade opportunities, but none arised during my turns. As an alternative, we can research most techs in 4. Please remember I whipped 1 in Ashur.

ok, we came out of that ok. looks like the vikings are hanging out a couple more towns for us to take. Did they build the ToA? seems like they are culturally enhanced.

ok, i'll try to get to this tonight, however, i may have trouble since i am in the middle of painting my kitchen :( even worse, my wife picked some terrible colors and she's not even here, so I can't change it till she get's back, and then i'll have to repaint again :cry: maybe i'll just quit painting and just drink lots of beer instead :)

Preflight check: Set Hareid to not grow. Set Babylon for settler and MM for growth. We can get 3 techs from Russia for wines and some cash but I want to raze and replace Hareid before I do that so we minimize the flip risk.

Maybe we can connect a second incense and sell it to russia for another tech.

Settler near Zariqum was intended for the spot 1T NE of present position.
Settler being built in Akkad is for a whale fishing village to the NW.
Elite and vet bowman in position to attack Byz warrior/settler pair next turn. Warrior to the S (near Akshak) should see a wounded American warrior with a settler soon.

the more i think about it, the more i feel that we need to buy whatever tech's we can right now. we are getting too far behind again. we should definitely hook up that second incense and sell it to the russians as well, for more techs of course. also, we'll need them chummy for now till after we get rid of those 2 viking cities in the NW. good luck :)
 
I can buy Republic from Catherine for Incense, 30GPT and 80g. Without the Incense it is impossible. I go ahead and take it with 4 more luxuries connected. Start MM to increase our income...none to do. Break out the whip before revolting and rush Barrack in Uruk for the full 20s. Hareid gets a Temple rushed for 20s. We have 10g and are making 2GPT now. Will have to wait a couple of turns to revolt. With 5 techs to the next age, I start research on Poly with a scientist. It may take that long to buy all the techs anyway.

IBT Byzantine completes Sun Tzu's. Byzantine and American settlers are running from the Bowman.

330BC-1 Ellipi Bowman-->temple Uruk barrack-->spear Heid temple-->library Move scientist to Nineveh. Send a couple of Bowmen to the hidden Viking town.

310BC-2 Ashur Bowman-->temple Samarra barrack-->temple Sippar founded and starts a temple. Able starts to scout around. Scientist moves to Babylon.

IBT Byzantine and Iroquois join up against us. They also bring in RUSSIA!!!!! At least we have our GPT back form Russia. The Russians also dropped a town by our whale.

290BC-3 Do away with that annoying Byz settler by Nippur. Send the reg. warrior from Samarra to attack a Russian reg. warrior protecting a settler and lose 2-3. Eulbar has a warrior to attack but there is an Iroquois settler/spear next door. Able goes down swinging taking 2 hp off an archer. He would have faced a knight or 2 MW next turn. Move Bowmen towards Smolensk. Keep Ragnar out of the fray with Wines, 22GPT and 4g for Math and MM. Rush library in Nineveh.

IBT Russia kills one our Bowman with a MI. The Iroquois bring in the Sumerians. This is turning into an AW game.

270BC-4 Babylon library-->Bowman Nineveh library-->barrack Akkad settler-->barrack Kill the Russian settler. Kill a Sumerian archer covering a settler near Babylon. Settler has to sit in Akkad for a while. Promote a Bowman on the Russian MI. Promote a second on a Byz warrior. Kill a Russian Archer leaving their fishing village. Whip temple in Ellipi.

IBT Byz now brings in Germany to join the fun!

250BC-5 Ellipi temple-->Bowman Shuruppak library-->barrack Kill an Ekidu warrior with an elite but a leader would be asking WAY too much. Cain dies trying to kill the American settler pair. Russians are moving in on Nippur and Babylon but we should be safe. Rush temple in Eulbar.

IBT Germany completes Sistine Chapel and Moscow cascades to KT.

230BC-6 Babylon Bowman-->Bowman Eulbar temple-->barrack Two Bowmen are needed to kill a Russian spear outside of Babylon. Defeat an archer set to pillage our incense. A slave in Nippur is mixed into the mortar for walls. Abe will take all of our money and income for peace. Theodora just wants our horse town. No one else will talk.

IBT Defeat an archer and a longbow but lose to a sword in Nippur.

210BC-7 Ashur temple-->Bowman Zariqum worker-->temple Capture the Iroquois setter pair near Eulbar. Kill a spear in the Russian fishing village. Rush Barrack in Nineveh. Rush temple in Samarra.

IBT Kill a sword and a longbow near Nippur but an archer defeated our last Bowman without damage. Only a reg warrior left.

190BC-8 Babylon Bowman-->Bowman Nineveh barrack-->Bowman Samarra temple-->Bowman Nippur riots. Kill a warrior by Babylon. Shuffle troops and hope Nippur holds out.

IBT Nippur holds on by a HP. Lose a worker and a slave. Not a total loss since the MI is in range of several Bowmen now as opposed to marching in on a town protected by a reg. warrior. Kill a MI trying to get to our Incense. Golden Age ends. Russians run a galley through their fishing village. I'm not sure if he was dropping off reinforcements or picking someone up.

170BC-9 Use last slave to rush a spear in Nippur. Two Bowman will arrive next turn to secure the town. Two Bowmen are needed to kill the MI that took the slave/worker. We are now at 89g and -5GPT.

IBT Ragnar wants to extend the peace. No problem with that. Germany has Astronomy!

150BC-10 Nippur spear-->barrack Move reinforcements into Nippur. Kill a spear near Ashur. There is a couple of units left to move. We have yet to revolt to Republic. There are 5 Bowman due in the next three turns. After that, there isn't anything worth whipping so that may be a good time to revolt. Russia will listen but does not want peace. We are making a couple of GPT but I do not think it is enough to buy another tech. After we are a Republic, we may have enought GPT to get peace and a tech from someone.


The Game
 
For a culture game we are far behind that stat but our curve is starting to increase. We have a few libraries but I have not checked to see if we can affored any research. The scientist is in Nippur because of the two whips and no road to our luxuries. The stack of workers connecting our horses(about 10 turns late) can try to connect the town and our Iron with some Bowman protection.
Fortunately only Russia is sending troops our way. There must be some other wars going on. If we can get some Bowmen together, we can attempt to march on one of Catherine's towns. I have a bowman and 2 warriors (one reg) near the fishing village but it needs at least one move Bowman to attack. There is also a Sumerian town not to far from Nippur.
