Graphics Issue - Game Screen Stretch

Hi all,

Just installed BTS. The game runs fine, but unless I play in windowed mode, the display stretches as if I've got a wide-screen monitor (and sadly, I don't).

The title screens and in-game screens all display only about 1/2 a screen's worth of graphics.

1. Start the game
2. Full screen mode
3. Bingo - stretched

I've got an nVidia GeForce FX 5200 256 MB graphics card, PCI (the best my sturdy older Dell could take). It's a dual-monitor card, but I don't have dual monitors, and no other games behave this way.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be most welcome.

Is it only BTS? Or on the others as well?

Firstly, I suggest going to in-game options then graphics, and trying to change the resolution there. If that doesn't help, then I suggest going to:

C:\Documents and Settings\your account\My Documents\My Games\Beyond The Sword and finding CivilizationIV.ini.

Open it, and find these sections:
Code:
; Custom Screen Height, minimum: 768 - Normal resolutions can be set in-game and will be used when set to 0
ScreenHeight = 0

; Custom Screen Width, minimum: 1024 - Normal resolutions can be set in-game and will be used when set to 0
ScreenWidth = 0

Try playing with new values. Note that you'll have to restart BTS after each change.

Thanks ainwood!

The issue only happens with BTS.

I'll mess with the settings, see what I come up with, and post the results.

I toyed with the .ini file a little last night, but in truth I was so bloody eager to see all the new stuff that I stopped experimenting earlier than I normally would so I could squeeze some game time in before sleep.

Thanks again!

No dice, unfortunately.

Changing the resolution only gives me the different screen resolution still stretched so I only see half a screen.

What's truly frustrating is that when I hit the "Restore Defaults" button, it snaps the screen to normal size, just briefly, before stretching out again.

I'll work on it some more. At least I have the windowed mode to keep me somewhat happy.

RESOLUTION:

It pains me to even write it - I thought I had the most updated drivers for my video card, but no.

I downloaded the newest drivers, installed, and voila - no streched screen.

Sigh.

Thanks again Ainwood for the quick reply. From now on I hope my posts all involve game strategy...
