Graveyards vs. Goodie Huts

Once as Sidar, I got the 'create graveyard event' in two cities, and when robbed each yard gave me techs. I guess some Sidar scientists spend time in a small buried box thinking up new ideas, waiting to be dug up.

Is it guaranteed that if you rob a graveyard, the AC goes up? I've only robbed one and didn't notice a change. granted this was within the first 20 turns, and I restarted the game a few more turns in.

I could set my watch by how often people get confused by the AC. The displayed Apocalypse Counter is nothing more than a percentage value. The "true" AC is based off of map size. I forget the exact forumla, but the real maximum is usually a bit higher than 100, so the official changes and the observed changes won't match up.

To be honest, it'd probably be less confusing if they switched over to some sort of displayed graphic. That'd mitigate human players preparing for the next event in advance to some degree, too.

I've always found that odd. I can understand Sanctifying it or Raising Skeletons from it (you just dumped all your dead into one place, so you might as well do something about it), but raiding the graves and resurrecting things from them both seem odd.

"Sire, the people of our city are dying in droves!"
"Very well, put them all in a cemetery outside town."
"A wise decision."
"Now check the bodies for loot!"
"What?"
"Come on, there's a lot of people dead there, ergo it's a crypt, ergo it's got loot in it! I bet we'll find some long-lost knowledge from the Age of Magic!"
"Er... It's not that--"
"Oooh! Better idea! Have our Archmage perform a ceremony to resurrect the ancient champion that's surely been buried there!"

Exact formula is in my manual, and not based on map size.. well, not directly. It is 50 + 15 per leader. So if you play with 3 people then it is 95, and most things give the same visual change as they advertise. Otherwise everything does slightly less than you expect it to (and at 10 players you get a max AC of 200, so all changes are 1/2 of advertised effect).

EDIT: And yes, it would be kind of nice if they made the Graveyard spawning event be that you discovered a fault in the earth or something, and upon expending resources you discover it is an ancient catacomb.

Really? I thought it was based off of the max players per map size, like BtS quests. So it's only based on the number of leaders that are actually in the game?

Someone else has asked this, though there hasn't been an answer as far as I can see:

Can animals rob graveyards? I assume that they can because they will use the spell that is available to them. Would be a bit silly to see bears digging up the dead for treasure :p

Oh sure, but you have no problem with someone sneaking into a graveyard, digging up the corpse of someone buried there looking for valuables to steal and discovering Honor from the experience. ;)

Or a bear wandering into a tribal village and learning mathematics.

well i have been without internet since 2 days before .31 came out and am about to download it but if ash says groovy when i rob a grave i will finaly download the media pack

playing on the latest patch, I still haven't seen a graveyard in all my games since they have been implemented. Are there certain game options which cause them to not appear? I always play with extra events, but sometimes I turn the AC off--is that the problem?

I do not think so.

In my recent game I had seen only 1 in AI territory [got a nice tech out of it cause of open borders] but in a previous game I alone had 3. I guess it is random, either you have luck or not. I least I assume so, someone who knows the code should look it up.
