Hey All-

been playing recently (Noble- I ain't that good) and noticed some variability in the 'great people'- specificly great engineers and great scientists.

Sometimes it is as straight forward as I expect - Special ability is finish current construction (usually a wonder) or finish technology to compleation.

Other times it is not straight forward. A great engineer was telling me that it would only add 700 or so hammers to my production, not finish it. I've gotten something similar with scientists.

So, either two things are happening: The great people are limited by how many beakers/hammers

or there are lesser-great people out there.

Anyone else notice this?

From my experiences, they seem to be limited (though their limitations are variable). We'll probably get a definitive answer to this as we play the game more. :)

I'm sure it's a balance thing. Testing probably revealed that allowing them to always finish a modern wonder/technolocy made GP generation (and the philosophical trait) too powerful.

Yeah, my experience has been that they can usually finish early wonders/techs but just contribute to the end ones.

I got an Engineer who couldn't help finish a building, any building..

The Icon wasn't there.

Same thing for Great Entertainer, one of them couldn't produce a "Chef d'oeuvre" (culture boom).

Maybe it depends on who you get..

What is also interesting that this limit seems to change overtime.

I wanted to build Versailles in a newly erected city on another continent but could only add around 600 Hammers to its production. I started building it normally in the city and some turns later the same great engineer then added around 700.
But I am not 100% sure about this maybe somone had the same experience?

I also must ask if somebody knows if those great engineer hammers use production bonuses (%) from buildings, if so that could be the reason for the change cause I built a forge in between. Although 125% of the 600 would be more than 700 but I am not exactly sure what those numbers were.
