Greatest Earth Map in the History of Civilization

I've got a great game going as Spain, and I've started settling some of the Pacific islands, but I noticed the jungles are yeilding three food. Is that this map? The only other mods I'm running are UI-only, so that's the only thing I can think of that's doing it.

I think it's also responsible for the only balance issue I've run into so far, which is Songhai running away with the game. He's got 2/3 of Africa to himself and a lot of jungles, so that extra food is really helping him out.

Cheers, I can spot the error. I placed my Jungle on grasslands without realising that by default jungle only appears on plains. I will have to change the base tiles of jungle to plains for the next update.

if you figure out how to plant jungles on plains in worldbuilder (and not have them immediately change to grassland in the process), please let us know how.

also, I've got to add that i'm going to run this map in my next playthrough, but beforehand i've got to say how awesome it looks and what a great purpose and product you've come up with!

It's a known bug, I think Jungles on Grass are overpowered, so it needs to be addressed.

I suppose it can be done by using a mod that allows Jungle on Plains. That mod would be used only when editing the map in the World Builder, not when playing it.

i guess an alternative in the near term is meticulous use of ingame editor?

i'm guessing that the Incans also have a bonus from this terrain quirk as well...

it's not a perfect solution, but i used ingame editor to start a new game, edit all of the south american and african (and most south asian) grassland jungles to plains jungles, and save the map.

the result is maintaining all of the (hard) work done for resource placement. the loss is that all of the starting positions and scenario data needs to be reinput. see attached and hope it helps.

again, a great looking map!

I finally gave up in my Spain game. I let Songhai get too big due to unhappiness problems preventing me from expanding, and by the time I was ready to attack him he had built 50 or 60 bombers! It was a great game though, and turned out to be a pretty level playing field otherwise. I really liked the mid-game rush to colonize Australia and the Pacific Islands! Great job in making them interesting and well worth the investment!

The only other criticism I have is that, while the early game strategic resources seem perfectly balance, I think there's too much oil and aluminum.

Nice work bwoww78. I can use that.
Glad you had a good game Slightlymad. The Songhai Air Force sounds incredibly scary.
The jungle nerf should slow them down a bit.
I can tone down the late strategic resources.

I know I should know how to do this...

How do I load the mod? I download it to the correct folder, but I cant seem to enable it.

Thanks,

I was putting in Mods, not Maps.

Just played a game as England, and boy is the lack of luxuries in the British Isles brutal. One Gold near London and one Whales off the coast of Ireland. The next closest two are the furs in Denmark (!) and another Whales faaaaar of the coast of Iceland. I ended up being constantly in negative happiness until I got the Notre Dame, despite going Liberty/Piety with Pagodas. It's especially annoying since you have so much fish that your cities are growing like crazy. Compare that to India which starts with like 5 luxuries. Maybe put some Furs somewhere in Great Britain and a few Crabs in the north?

The shortage of Luxuries in the British Isles is deliberate. If you want luxuries you will need to expand and you have the strategic resources you needed to do so.
The idea is to encourage aggressive historical expansion into the Americas and beyond.
Why not go and take those Indian luxuries?

What do you said or showing ?

I can't see your image...

First of all, this is the best earth map I've ever played. I give it two thumbs! :goodjob: :goodjob:

Thank you for your great idea and detailed effort. The world seems real, it has enough room for every civilizations, and also, it's completely PLAYABLE!
And Korean Peninsula is very detailed and I have room for both Seoul(South Korean Capital) and Pyeongyang(North Korean Capital) IN the peninsula. Thanks! (I'm from South Korea.)
And Europeans have more room to grow than they have in any other maps. They build fairly big nations and I can see AI English Ship of the Line sailing all around the world in 18C~19C, instead of their lonely Longbowmen protecting lonely city of London. AI Spanish build colonies in Latin America! In other Huge maps, AI Spanish on Prince difficulty usually don't even think about colonize over Atlantic because it is so far away.

Here's my opinion.
As you know, jungle on grass is too powerful... Everytime I play, India and Songhai who have access to vast jungle and many luxuries build superpower empires. It feels unbalanced and unrealistic. They should be civs that are difficult to be superpower, I think. In real history, Europeans conquered and colonized their territory, but in this map it's usually Songhai that colonize Madrid and Rome. I'm not a big fan of imperialism, but I want a little more 'real feel'.
And Ethiopians or Mayans who have bonus in religion usually found Christianity. It feels odd and I personally replaced them with city states.

Once again, I'm very grateful for fun I'm having on this map. Please keep up your good work.
With a little improvement, the title "Greatest Earth Map" certainly deserves it.

Sorry for my poor English. :crazyeye:

Very playable map, good work! :)
One minor issue: it was too early possbile to make diplomatic contacts with civs from america continent (I started from europe) because the ocean line was so thin and I was able to see their city territories with my trimere type units.
