Who is he? How do you get him? Is it an easter egg? I guess Gurid is a sort of King Kong...

I think he and Margalard (the Orangutan) are probably very ancient creatures dating from the earliest days of Sucellus experimenting with nature in creation. Their fairly infrequent and random appearance might suggest that they live in extremely remote areas of Erebus, likely the types which Yvain is said to visit in his pedia entry. Possibly relics from the Godswar?

Nope - he's just a very big monkey. He ate too many bananas.

I think Vehem was joking.

In all likelihood Gurid, Margalard, and Xien (the giant wolf in my version) were beasts Sucellus created to defend his borders during the Godswar. He probably didn't bother creating a Dragon because he did not intend to really get involved in the conflict and dragons are mostly offensive weapons, but we would pretty muhc have needed to make some beasts as deterrents and defensive weapons.

Would it be possible to make those events a little more frequent?

I've never, ever, EVER seen either of them. And I've only ever seen Tum Tum once.
it's no fun having things that nobody ever sees.

Tum Tum is built, so he is much more common.

Gurid, Margalard, and Mary Morbus are rare because they only come though fairly rare events.

In some of my versions I dedided to make the beasts buildable by the barbs at a tech like Feral Bond, Commune with Nature, or Animal Mastery, and to make Mary Morbus available to any evil civ with an Alchemy Lab and Body mana. The events were left in, but set to only happen if the unit hadn't been created yet.

Second that! In all my (many!) games I've only seen Gurid once (!) - but I managed to capture him then, which was fun! - and don't even know what Margalard looks like. Haven't seen Mary Morbus either, but I don't really miss her... :D

Actually, I'd generally like more events, other than the rather boring 'constellation' events ... and yes, I'm already playing with Living World.

There is a huge event overhaul planned, but it is somewhat far down in the list of development requirements. It ought to make new events easier to add, and make actually SEEING events much more common. As well as eliminate the frustration of constellations not making sense...

shouldn't the frequency of these events (for Gurid, Malagard and Xien) be tied to the building of the "Nature's Revolt" ritual?
what if their spawn rate is x2 or x3 if the ritual has been build for example?
(especially in a case where the builder of the ritual is protected against animals^^)

But then you cannot subdue them. Perhaps satyrs can? I want my banana affinity super monkey!

Well in this case you'll probably get Gurid, and Malagard and Xien working for you... except that you won't be able to manage them correctly ^^
I suspect the animal/barbarian IA will probably conquer a city with each hero and then let him in the city to guard it ^^
but they 'll still be able to "eat" some units of your opponents before dying (never see the IA subdue such unit^^)

Fall From Heaven did that. Started as a joke, Kael found it really funny and did it... and thus we have monkeys with banana affinity. :D
