Preturn:
- Check out our current trades. We're giving Qin gold for 1 gold/turn. Uh, not any more. We're also trading copper and sugar to Huayna and Toku, respectively, both of whom have an extra 2/turn for trade. So cancel those due to inflation and get them to pay 6/turn, only this time we sell bananas to Huayna and not copper and corn to Toku and not sugar. Food yes, happy no. We're still selling rice to Genghis, but he has no extra, and it's rice, so we keep that deal going.
- We have a lot of city maintenance - the forbidden palace has not yet been built! We need to get on that asap! Tenochtitlan is probably a good site for this, so I squeeze this in before the university it's currently building.
- (Swweeeet, they finally put in the ability to zoom on a city from the F1 screen!)
- Munich is starving and is being stressed culturally, and is building a bank?? Switch to library and maximize food.
- Why is Teotihuacan building West Point??? Cumae is the city where we get extra military production. THAT is the city that should be building West Point. It wastes shields, but I cancel the build and start a bank.
- Domination or conquest? We only have half the land area we need for a domination victory, but our civ trait (organized) makes this easier than if we were another civ. I'm thinking that conquering the Japanese and Mongols as well as settling the remaining island space would get us there. I don't think that we'd have to worry about conflict with Qin or Huayna, since we have good relations with both.
- Goals for this turnset:
+ Ride out and maximize the golden age. Our civics are not a good match for a post-war infrastructure phase, so build units where and when I can, as I don't want to switch until after the golden age.
+ Get ready for conflict with Genghis. He's our next foe, and if he doesn't attack us, we'll attack him.
+ Spread settlers to where I can.
Turn 1 (1605)
- Ferrum ?(forgot) -> bank
- Tlaxcala forge -> settler
- Hamburg courthouse -> barracks (Note that Hamburg also has an academy)
- Berlin forge -> barracks
- Dusseldorf lighthouse -> hindu temple It has a free specialist, but can only create a citizen. A priest would be nice.
- Keep one of the caravels near Dusseldorf *in* Dusseldorf for defense in case Genghis tries to flank, and send one to transport settlers to islands.
- Spread Hinduism in Berlin and Munich
Turn 2 (1610)
- We discover Rifling. Begin steel. Huayna already has economics, so no point in beelining there, and I think we want the cannons.
- Antium market -> bank
- Cologne hindu temple -> rifleman
- Trade philosophy to Qin for Drama and 140 gold. Trade philosophy + 520 gold to Huayna for Divine Right. We're now 3-4 techs up on all except for Huayna, who still has economics over us.
Turn 3 (1615)
- Gemini Montes settler -> rifleman
- Tlatelolco hindu temple -> forge
- Berlin barracks -> library
- Disband unpromoted warrior in Ferrum
Turn 4 (1620)
- Rome hindu temple -> cavalry
- Saxon market -> university
- Essen courthouse -> forge
- Oops, didn't realize caravels couldn't transport settlers. Guess I never tried to do that before. Moved caravel back to front.
Turn 5 (1625)
- Hamburg barracks -> library
Turn 6 (1630)
- Huayna comes for our world map. Not yet.
- Rome cavalry -> rifleman
- Frankfurt ? -> rifleman
- Berlin library -> courthouse
- Great scientist Copernicus born in Rome. He will give 2073 beakers for the discovery of scientific method, so I wait until I *can* discover scientific method and then will use him for that.
- Trade Qin pigs for 6 gold/turn.
Turn 7 (1635)
- We enter the industrial era with the discovery of steel. Begin researching scientific method so can use the scientist.
- Tlaxcala galley -> cannon.
- When this golden age is over, we should probably spend a turn or two just on cash to upgrade our forces.
Turn 8 (1640)
- Discover scientific method. Begin research on constitution, leading to democracy and the statue of liberty.
- Berlin courthouse -> lighthouse
Turn 9 (1645)
- Rome rifleman -> cannon
- Teotihuacan bank -> university
- Cologne rifleman -> cannon
- Berlin lighthouse -> Versailles (this seems as good a place as any)
- Oops, Munich finished its library, squeezing in theatre for more culture
- Turned science down to zero for some much needed upgrades
Turn 10 (1650)
- Tenochtitlan university -> bank
- found Neapolis on s island
- Upgrade about 3 units to riflemen/grenadiers
Notes to next player:
- Galley is heading to s tip of s island to settle within range of fish and oil. This will be a decent "fishing" village and will contribute to possible domination. My preference would be to settle on the very tip of the continent to provide for max fishing. We finished the forbidden palace and are 15 turns away from Versailles, so our mainetenance costs are falling. We're generating cash instead of science for unit upgrades and we're still in unit-producing civics, *and* Cumae is 1 turn from West Point, so I think we're ready for some serious unit churning. I don't think we'll need *many* more techs to allow us to steamroll over the Mongols and Japanese. Tanks would be nice. But we're close to just being ready to go
