Hall of Fame Rules/FAQ

I know there's some order which allows for multiple victory conditions on the same turn to get charted in a predetermined way. For example, Bartleby's 2050 20k finish charted as a histographic game.

What's the order?

In particular, if a game finishes both spaceship and 100k on the same turn, does it chart as spaceship or 100k?

20k and 100k does it chart as 20k or 100k?

20k, 100k, and spaceship all on the same turn, which would it chart as?

The Hall of Fame recognizes the victories as follows:

Dianthus was kind enough to look into it for me, as this question hasn't come up in a while my memory is rusty.

Apparently we don't go with the Firaxis order, but this:
  1. Histographic
  2. Diplomatic
  3. Spacerace
  4. 20K
  5. 100K
  6. Conquest
  7. Domination
  8. Wonder
  9. Victory Points
  10. Histographic

I want to do my first HOF entry, and I have a couple of questions about the following rule: ''Games with reload rates deemed to be less than 30 minutes per session will not be accepted.''
1) How is this meant exactly? Does this mean there has to be at least an average of 30 minutes playtime before a load is done? Or may there never be a reload done before playing at least for 30 minutes?
2) It says that it has to be deemed. Does this mean it's kind of like an honor system, where it is expected us to adhere by it? How is it judged by if there is no objective way to do so? Or can reload rates be looked back by uploaded save files? If so, how?
3) What about saving? I think I've read somewhere it can be seen how many times saves are done, but not sure about reloads.
4) How is playtime actually considered? And is it even relevant? I'm especially asking since for personal circumstances, I definitely can't always play for 30 minutes straight before I'm interrupted. Off course I can let the game simply go on (and thereby letting the game clock go on), but it's not like I'm playing during that time. And if it is relevant, should I then reload to my last save to make sure I really play for at least 30 minutes in a row?

You can save as much as you want. I always save once per turn, sometimes twice. And just letting the game run for 30 minutes will make the clock right whether you're actively playing or not.

Thank you, and what about points 1 and 2?

Games are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. What we can check and how we do it aren't things we discuss publically.

Ok, and about the first point, my assumption is a reload may never be performed before at least 30 minutes are played? For me this is important to know since there are times when I can't even afford to play it without being interrupted for 30 minutes. Yes, there are times where I can, but it's important to know for me when I can play a HOF game.

Sure enough, by what you said before I could also simply let the game run on itself, but to me that still seems kinda iffy.

Life does get in the way sometimes, and 30-minute sessions aren't always possible in the early game, especially if you generate a lot of maps and come back to them later. As a general rule of thumb, you should try and average 30 minutes or better.

Wait, what do you mean by 30-minute sessions not being possible if one generates plenty of maps, and come back to them later? The game clock only starts and keeps running (and therefore is only relevant) if you continue a game? Not that the game clock keeps running if you're simply generating different new maps?

I didn't mean to confuse you. I just meant that with Mapfinder-generated games, the first "session" might only be a few seconds or moments because the map is generated, saved, and the program goes on to the next one.

The 30-minute rule is a guideline but not concrete. I honestly think you're worrying too much about it. As long as each of your play sessions starts from the end of the previous one and you don't replay multiple times trying to change the outcome of the game, you'll be fine.

Ok, thank you very much superslug!

Am I allowed to add workers to a city that has resistors, but is NOT either starving or rioting at the very same turn? I think it is?
