Handy17 AWD Small

I think it may be time to fire up the Celt Save. This one really headed south Fast. We never really got our unit count high enough to do anything with.

I think we should just go on to the celts.

lurker's comment: Sorry to see another AWD loss, but I must agree. You already have to many civs to fight without the Babs having a GA to make it worse. AW at any level can collaspe if you can't even get a decent core going.

Yup. Read com1. It was such a bad start. 3 iron sources, 2 on hills under cities guarded by hoplites, and I beleive the Greeks had the great wall, and 1 iron source deep in Persian territory. We were surrounded by the most deadly AI's, Greece, Rome, and Persia. We suffered conquest.

That is a brutal set for the ancient age. Cheap pikes, cheap MDIs, and extra tough swords. 3 GAs to suffer through early on.

That was the problem, without doubt. We only had 1 city with decent production. (Madrid @ 11 spt) I wanted to crank swords but I needed spears more since they were 1 turn faster builds.
The first spear out of there on my turns was slated for Seville, but during that inter-turn a Korean gally showed up next to Toledo which was undefended. I had to send it there instead. Sure enough the galley went around the horn towards undefended Murcia which bought me some time (I thought).
Next one did head to Seville, but was next to the city when it fell thanks to that cursed river crossing. I think it would have held had he been there.

All the other cities were 5-8 turns to build swords and I just didn't have that kind of time to play with.
Talk about a brutal introduction to AW.

ok, too bad, too crammmed and too many enemies, don't blame yourself Matt. Let's try the Celts. Maybe we should come up with a dot map and a plan which city to take for the prebuild for the GL.

The Roster (I assume we simply continue here on HANDY17

1 Greebley - up
2 Handy - on deck (but on leave from 7/1/05)
3 Bugs
4 Rat - skipped first round since played first 35
5 bede
6 Romeo
7 Matt

I create a new link to Handy18 (hope you all don't mind me doing this)
