Has anyone beaten large Earth map on Deity? How? Which civ is the easiest to do this with?

This challenge is kicking my ass - I've beaten Large Earth map on immortal with Japan but just cannot do it on Deity. Some civ, usually African, takes the whole African continent and booms to such an extent they are unbeatable in tech and production by late game and I can't get to them in time. I have to go warmonger and this means that my mainland Asian cities are always under threat from Stacks of Doom from whichever Europe/Africa civ rises to the top and hates me, but I can take Australasia and have access to the new world.

I also pick Japan as I can usually get both Colossus and Great Lighthouse, they are safe early game as an island, and mainly since their Wako UU is insane for capturing cities once upgraded with Great Generals.

Any advice for Civs, approach etc? Has anyone won on Deity on this map?

Bro, the fact you FINISHED a game on those earth maps already gives you a medal.

Yeah it was 80 hours... probably the most fun game of Civ I've ever played to be fair, worth every minute!

i did a domination victory in a gigantic map, as transoxiana.
The lategame was essentially me fighting against my own cities due to rebellion while the other civs were cakewalk because air support in this mod is ridiculously broken

Interesting, so basically I need to hold on until I get bombers?
granted, i played on a much much MUCH lower difficulty than you.
but bombers help immensely on your conquest. They can damage garrison harder than siege in this mod.
Also played on the normal speed of the mod, realistic.

air units are pretty broken, and the AI has no idea how to use them so makes them even more broken.
