Has Civ 7 Legitimized Humankind?

You didn't understand the concept: EL2 was a financial success so much so that the developers supported the game until 2023, HK was a financial failure so much so that the last patch was in January 2024 and Amplitude most likely abandoned the game to dedicate to the sequel to EL, is the concept clearer to you now?
Aside from the fact that your data is not strictly accurate (the last in-house DLC for Endless Legend was 2019; the later DLC and patches were outsourced), I still don't really get the relevance or what point you're trying to make?

Civ 3 Conquest was Outsourced so Civilization 3 was a failure?

I brought you some data, it's not good for you, well I'm waiting for your data

I still have no idea why this is directed at me. I said Ara was a good game but not for me. Your interpretation was that I should defend Amplitude's honor? I have no vested interest in Amplitude except that I loved one of their games, the one in space and least like Civ. So no, I really don't see how any of this is relevant to me or what I said. :dunno:

Is "ARA" (are you talking about ARA: Untold Histories?) out yet? I thought it would come out at the end of September (and now we're in August), evidently we find ourselves on two different timelines .....

Yes, ARA: Histories Untold. No, it's not out yet. I've played three of the alphas.

However no, my statements are aimed at responding to the fact that HF was a successful game because it is not true

...Then why was that directed at me? I said repeatedly that Humankind was a bad game. I don't have the data to say whether it was "successful," though I doubt it given that it was almost universally panned, but it was a poorly designed mess.

Can you give us a preview? What elements did you like and which ones did you like? and above all which Alfas and on what date did you play? and anyway what does ARA have to do with Humankind given that the topic is "Has Civ 7 Legitimized Humankind?"

I simply list the statements I respond to

The most recent was a few months ago; I don't recall the exact dates. It's very poorly optimized, but that could be an alpha issue. It has some innovative ideas, including some heavy-handed crafting micromanagement, but I'm not personally the biggest fan. I think a lot of people will like it, but I don't think it's my kind of game.

Maybe I'll like it;)

I hope a lot of people do! It doesn't appeal to me, but a lot of love has gone into it. :)

Well, let's see, obviously no Preorder (Civilization 6 as a disaster is enough for me) but a lot of what I've read excites me, and it could be an excellent title to buy, while waiting for Europa Universalis 5 ;)

I did. :) If you haven't already, you may want to check out the Ara: History Untold thread. There are some screenshots and links to previews there, as well as discussion, and comments from us alpha testers (as far as we can without breaking the NDA).

EDIT: Don't be scared by the early screenshots at the beginning of that thread. The game's visuals have improved a lot. :)

There is a reason the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" exists.
Building your argumentation on vague and inapplicable aphorisms is ludicrous. This ain't applicable, because we ain't trying to fix Civ 6, are we? We don't fix a game by building a new one, we fix it by... well, fixing it. The goal of a new game is to create -wait for it- a new game. Not just reskin the old one.

I gave Humankind a bad shake in the past but now that I'm playing it after 3 years, it's not that bad. Sure the civ changing ability is gamey, but it's a fun gamey.
I turn it on once in a while because of the pleasant aesthetics and soundscape. Gameplaywise, I think it's alright, but they did not nail the main mechanic. I think their failure in this regard will help Civ 7.

Just for the record, I think Civ 7 has legitimized Humankind.
But what does that mean? The game hasn't even released yet. We don't know how well received Civ 7 will be compared to the preceding titles. And they're not implementing the idea the way Humankind did, which makes the whole difference.

I just listen to the soundtrack (which is great, no question). :D
