Has the game finally been released for the rest of the world?

The announcements involving UTC time (whatever that is) were correct, the Steam web site's counter was definitely pointing to midnight but had it wrong! 43 mins to go.

Well, the release countdown is over, but anyone who has pre-ordered on Steam before will no doubt know it could be released any time between now and 11am tomorrow.

I should've just used VPN to trick it into thinking I was in the US earlier this week. Ah well...

Hmmm, wouldn't normally be annoyed but the Steam site has been counting down towards midnight UK time (ie. 17 mins ago). Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but on top of the delay from our colonial cousins being able to play, it's mildly irritating,

I am amazed how more civilized (haha) people here are, compared to the steam boards. That place is overflowing with vile rigthnow, because anyone there can use a clock.

So is the release time 12 midnight UK time (Currently BST) or is it 12 midnight GMT, which will be 1 o'clock BST?

Activation still isn't working so I presume it is the latter.

Nah, I think it's just their not that precise about it.

I have a vision of a Valve employee sitting at his desk. On that desk is a button, which is big and red. The employee can press the button now if he want to, but does he? No he's on YouTube watching some silly video of a cat...

It should have been BST as that was when the countdown was pointing to so either there is a glitch in their servers(possibly the reason its says you can still pre-order it) or someone somehow mixed up the timer and it should have said unlocks at 1 AM however I doubt it.

It's 12 GMT (wel 12 UTC), but they forgot that in England they're using BST. Woops.

If you take a look on the release times list, then England is the only one that doesn't fit 00:00 UTC, so they probably miscalculated that.

I don't get this,

Release on the 24th Sept 2010. It is now the 24th!! No where have I seen anything about what time we are aloud to install it! And what annoys me the most is that you cant even install the game 1st, so now I have to wait probably another half an hour for the game to install before I can play it.

I hate Steam!!!

On a good note, I hope it will be worth the wait.

Wankers

Just sitting here... waiting for CivV... listening to The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again

I CANT WAIT!!! O_O

I kind of finding this funny, especially after reading the civ forums on Steam.

Made me go to youtube and watch the Angry German Kid video [link] just to cheer myself up.

Civilization official website forum did say 00:00 UTC, but also said 00:00 for UK time. Then steam countdown was heading for 00:00 UK time.

Assuming I've got another 1GB download after it unlocks I probably wont be able to play until 1:30am. I'm too tired for that, so I admit defeat and head off to bed.

Hope the rest of you enjoy yourself :goodjob:

It may seem silly, but I feel ******** for having bought the game on Steam.

I thought the entire point of buying a digital download, is that in theory you should be able to receive it quicker than a physical one...
