Still playing, but not so frequently while waiting for the patch.

didnt play for the last week due to absolute lack of time, had finished my 3rd game early last sunday;

Im still enjoying mostly because of the deprivation; when i get to play it means that i have free time which means that its an all in all awesome thing.

In another reality where another me has infinite time free, the another me is juggling between dragon age, dota 2, far cry, gta, civ be, xcom, new-thing-not-quite-xcom, rise of legends and civ.

With that, im going to reply to the steam-achievement hunting. I do like to follow the achievements on the steam least not as a target, but as a checklist.. somehow like making a map before sightseeing versus roaming around sightseeing.

i know that my next game will be purity, slavs, soyuz, equatorial, small. With that target in mind, i enjoy the trip.

I like the game, but 456 turns into my current game, I am getting some annoying bugs, so I will put it on the shelf for now and start a new game after the patch comes out.

I've taken hidden option C: self patch with mods
Yeah, me too. I think I'm going to stop but then I have an idea. I'm still hesitate to change a lot before I see how the patch changes things.

I am still playing, with mods of course. The UI mod by IphStich makes the game much more playable, and the Aggressive Wildlife by Ryika makes aliens a real threat to expansion.

I just built a new rig with a SSD, i5, and gtx 760 and it is mind-blowing how fast I can get into a game compared to my old rig. And the turn times are super quick as well. Really breathing new life into my existing game library.

I'm having a lot of fun playing with various mods on and scripting some of my own. Kind of having a game with myself to see how close I can get to the actual patch.

I will however probably give up eventually if the AI or multiplayer is not fixed. If the AI is not a challenge and I can't play humans then there's only so much more "balance" you can do.

I've pretty much stopped playing. I can live with the balance issues and things you'd expect from a new release, but the most frustrating part is how they didn't seem to learn any lessons from CIV5 in terms of diplomacy and the game interface.

Not playing at the moment, Civ 5 is more fun and so is testing the CBP mod for Civ5.

I'm aware that mods improve the game dramatically, but I'd rather see Firaxis' take on it first before I get spoiled/too used to the mod approach. I can always continue to play mods afterwards. ;)

Good thing about Civ is that these are games I want to play over and over again in years, so I don't mind having a bit more patience for now.

I'm still playing multiplayer only and with set rules such as no op slav battle suit rushes, no spy bug usage etc.. I might play a little single player once the AI poses some sort of a challenge but for now single player is completely pointless.

If a Mod could help, I would add a third option to the poll for the displeased who still play even though less frequently.

I'd put myself in that camp.

It's a frustrating yet somewhat fun experience. They'll hopefully get the patch out soon as there are lots of other games coming out to occupy a gamers time - Dragon Age I for one.

I don't even know if a patch would make me interested in playing this game again.

Agree with your sentiment, I have stopped playing and also think that CIV V Beyond Earth is still the benchmark to improve upon. I actually feel "used" by the game developers who have taken my money for a very inferior product.

I am an inherently optimistic person but this experience with BE has certainly upset my "trust" in the Civ Series being a quality product to begin with upon purchase including accepting the inevitable bugs that need to be fixed as we find them.

I am having my doubts that this game can be "fixed". There are patchable issues yes but certainly the core game is a quite boring. I don't know if you can fix that with just patches. I hope I'm wrong.

This game needs some life added to it. Right now it's quite stale.

I've almost stopped playing a couple of times, but then I visit the Strategy & Tips forum and get some new ideas for things to try. Though there was a break in the middle when I got beta access to Massive Chalice.

I wonder if this big patch is a sign Firaxis is going to abandon the game after it. It's not secret that the game's budget was small so I wonder if all they have money for is one major patch and then they move on to other things.

Certainly, doing this isn't Firaxis' style but such a long delay before the first patch and the size of it makes me suspicious.

Maybe Civ VI is on tap to really get going and they need all hands-on-deck so to speak so BE may have a limited support cycle.

I don't know how the core game can be boring. The core game is civilization. I've seen small tweaks radically change strategy games. There's nothing wrong with this game that can't be fixed.

You may be right. I'm just not as sure that small changes will turn BE into a great game.
