Hay you guys

There are tools for photoshop to make ddsfiles I'm sure Duke, seZ or others from the forum can tell you no worries(I use GIMP so don't ask me but I believe they are from nvidia). Modding is such: small steps, frustration and after some time finally a small relief until the next problem occurs- but I'm sure you know that. We already had this problem once with another 3D artist using max. Sadly he won't be available to tell us how he solved it and more sadly even he didn't tell me. Put that question into the main forum I'm pretty sure someone here will know or ask in the tutorial threads. Here's only a small group assembled you'll have a larger audience to help you in those places.;)

If I was at home I could send you the dds converter I use.

For UVs I use texporter and save as a bmp, load that into GIMP (or PS), modify it, resave as a bmp still, load up the modified bmp in DDS converter and then save that as a dds file. Now go to the materials menu and follow the Duke's tutorial about the Civ4 Shader, and putting your new dds file onto the model.

I'll scan the threads to see if I can find the link to the dds converter neener.

Here's the tutorial I first followed when learning to skin. The dds converter is in the first post. There are 2 listed. I have both, but one sucks, but I don't remember which sucks without looking at it. :) Only 9 hours until I get home!

Here´s where you can find the nVidia plugin which lets you work with .dds files in Photoshop (now all I would need is a .dsds plugin for ACDSee and I´d be really happy)

photoshop_dds_plugins

What I would need most is a tutorial how to set up bones correctly (not Bipeds). And simple things like adding faces to existing meshes and merging two vertexes into one (I know I should be able to find this somewhere, but I didn´t have the time recently.

A model I´d really like to see is a Wyvern (Orc Unit, basically a Dragon without arms) and units which appear as single units ingame (like that Wyvern) with damage states like tanks, so you can actually see that the unit is damaged.

EDIT: But I don´t think that the last thing does actually ghas something to do with modelling, I believe it to be a python thing or some xml tag that I haven´t found up to now.

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. That plugin should be great. I was having nightmares of being forced to paint textures without photoshop and my beloved wacom tablet!

I'll definitely try make a Wyvern, Duke. One of the first Warhammer miniatures I ever bought as a kid was the old Orc Wyvern :)

Nobody has any insight on the Biped being rendered in the game though, huh? I guess I can ask on the main forums.

wow welcome neener!!!! nice to have you on board. i am happy about any new model and animation we get from you, thanx for your support. i am here for doing stuff in nif viewer and create textures, so if you have any issue, simply ask, so and now have fun doing anything you want :)
