Hearts of Iron

I think they made the game too easy. Playing as Germany on the medium difficulty level, I've taken all of Europe (minus Russia & Portugal), Britain included, and Turkey, and its only 1941! Hopefully, the toughest level IS difficult.

Of course, it's easy if you play germany, try another country (e.g france) that might be a little more challengeing

For a real challenge try a one province nations such as Tannu Tuva, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, etc.

I bought the game and I had taken over Europe and had pushed the USSR back to the Urals and what point I discovered nucler weapons and I soon took over and installed a puppet reigme.
I also found a neat tactic of mine was paratroopers. Drop them on all the objectives and if you can take it you can turn them into a puppet reigme.

By the way do you lot prefer annexing a place or turning them into a puppet reigme

It really depends. If a nation has a strong military, but not a ton of resources, or if you don't want to mess with defending the area, puppet regimes work best. For instance, Romania makes a nice puppet for Germany. Otherwise, just annex it and get the extra area for troop deployment.

I prefer annexation as you get the nation's industries and room for troop deployment against your next enemy, but puppets are OK too. Also, any tips for handling a two-front war?

Also, in a game as Germany, I invaded and took over Poland and signed the Unholy Alliance with the USSR. Now I am at a stalemate in France after having taken Luxembourg.

stalemate with france? ok, here we go:
1 build industry everywhere
2 help Franco in the civil war
3 bring italy etc into the alliance
4 crush poland, and screw the SU
5 constantly buld the best tanks
6 overrun france and create vichy
7 take the SU for yourself
8 leave UK alone, but invade USA from th epacific and pupet it
9 next target's middle east
10 conqer anyone who's left

works like a charm almost every time (unless the SU DOWs you early and then its a bit more trouble)

How are you in a stalemate with France? Never try to take the Maginot Line; always take Belgium instead.

I'm not going for the Maginot, I'm just finding myself having to throw all available troops to the Rhineland so the French don't break through. I another game as the Soviets, I have managed to take Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia and am now preparing for the Winter War and Operation Barbarossa. The Allies are at war with me because of the invasion of Poland, so I've kept my ships in the Baltic and Arctic in port. I have defeated the French in the Black Sea and am fighting constant skirmishes with New Zealand and Australia around Vladivostok and Kamchatka. I might bypass Finland and go for taking over Norway and Sweden to get resources and IC, as well as a good position against the Germans or British.

This is one of the best games I played...
Anyone interested in a multiplyaer game?

BTW anyone know why Russia start loosing all her economy and have 0.00 in everything if you take the 1936 scenario?!
I like being the commies, but that thing always happand...

My best game was as Germany...
Conquered europe, made vichy, just like real germany, includung conquer yuguslavia and greece.
Italy conquered half of Africa and I conquered Britian and landed in India.... never started the war with USSR...

Even better games were with Italy.
I caceled the alliance with Germany and conquered the middle east while moving to conquer all of Africa and land in India.
I also conquered ireland and Britian...
All Turkey, syria, israel, blakans were mine... exapt Rummania and Hungary, they were my allies... :(

I had a good game also as Hungary.
taking the teritories in Slovaia, and in Rommania while conquering Yguslavia with german troops :)

I also tried 1 area countries and left in the middle after I got bored.
Tried a good game with albania, but I was at war with all big alliances (Axis, Allies and Comintren) but Yuguslavia was with Germany so I lost...

Here's a question. How many people here have downloaded the patches for the game? The changes are very noticeable, and the difficulty seems to be higher as well.
Also, any suggestions on dealing with Comm. China as the Nationalists? I originally just annexed them right away (surprisingly easy to do), but with 1.04, the Sian incident seems harsher (or maybe I just noticed :) ). I assume the best thing to do now is just leave them as an extra line against Japan, unless someone has a more creative idea.

I would go for that too with Nat. China as I find with 1.04 it is very hard to fight them. Also, erez, I would be happy to play if we found a good time. Maybe this weekend? We could have a CivFanatics HoI game. Also, having a good game as Brazil, have conquered Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, and am going on Venezuela, and surpisingly, I am in the Allies.

Can't start a war? I can't help with that little info, but in case its the problem remember that you can only declare war via the Diplomacy map, and not with a country with which you have military access.

I select them with the Diplomacy map but i just cant click declar war:cry: and i dont have any sort of pact with them or anything.

That kinda sucks when playing as USA. Also, if it was more realistic, war entry suport should be around 70%.
