Hello new to game, could use a few tips

Now some quick questions:
When I capture workers do they cost me the same upkeep as normal workers?
How long will my population hold it against me for choosing to beat them down to build that temple a few turns sooner?
What is the best warmonger Civ? I like the Japanese but so far have only played 3 different Civs and only one militaristic one.
Thanks for any help in advance.
1) Yes they cost the same.

2) It depends on how many military units you put in them and the government you have:
Anarchy= 0
Despotism= 2
Monarchy= 3
Communism= 4
Republic= 0
Democracy= 0
Fascism= 4
Feudalism= 3

3) I found that the best war civ is Germany or Rome. They both work well with my gameplay.

4) Help: Don't play civ4; Democracy is NOT good for war (no matter what people say); don't automate anything; don't build cities next to volcanoes; and if you need any more help on the rules, look at the editor (it helps a lot).

That's why some (many?) players prefer a slave workforce. They only work at half the speed of your normal workers, so you need twice as many to do the same job, but they cost you nothing. After a few wars, you can have enough slaves that you can rejoin all your native workers to your cities, and have slaves do all your roading/mining/etc. You still get the same job done, but you don't lose any gold for upkeep.

I often "build" slaves to depopulate enemy cities, so they grow into my cities easier. I am an avid slaver, in game. I abhor the concept in real life, but its damn near a killer app in the game. A mass of slaves or workers can really get stuff done. When I played Civ2 and SMAC, I massed engineers and formers in the same way, it's so effective.

I wonder why they never made slaves disallowed by a government or tech.

I thought they did have the same upkeep. I guess you learn new things everyday!

I already explained that slaves (foreign workers) demand no upkeep and work at half the speed.
