Help changing railroad textures

Hi,
I tried to change the textures of the railroads to have a color distinction between normal/electric. Just getting started with small modding attempts, hopefully someone sees what I did wrong:

1. Create
../BTS/Mods/C2C/Assets/Art/Terrain/Routes/modrailroads/
../BTS/Mods/C2C/Assets/Art/Terrain/Routes/railroads/
Assuming 'modrailroads' contains the electric version

2. In each directory I have
railroad.dds
railroad_128.dds

3. Change the colors of the rails in each directory

Now when I start the game there is no effect whatsoever on both sides. Aslo tried putting the files into every possible location, e.g. assets of Civ4, BTS, 'My Games', etc.. What did I wrong ?

Guess I should skip the (futile) modding attempts and keep with the playing part .

Is it planned for future versions that railways and electric railways look different?
