Help for Newbee please

I still suggest you look at using paypal... and buy of amazon or ebay to something
that's how I got mine....

Wow, looks like there's been a lot of serious business here. o.O
Personally, I would recommend just paying a buddy to buy off Amazon. I got Complete from Amazon, and it was less than 10 pounds.
However, I'm sure this idea would be shot down, as I'm sure JMV has no card/paypal-wielding buddies who would be willing, so disregard that.

If you can't work out what to do with an mdf file with the internet at your disposal you don't deserve to play civ.

Most of what I read in your last several posts JMV is a bunch of bloody (is that the word you are trying to use) rambling nonsense. The point I was making originally is that you should not post in this forum about acts of piracy. I would assume that could get you banned. I made this without judgment, although I do think it is wrong. However, you keep going on and on about it when you should be editing your posts in this thread and removing all mention of it.

As for purchasing the game, if you have the money, which you've stated many times that you are willing to pay more for it, and also a bank account, you can use the bank account on sites like Paypal. Paypal is used by sites like gamersgate, amazon, etc. to easily purchase a game without a credit card. I honestly could not follow your attempt or whatever at using Paypal, but it sounded to me like you did not really try or just not willing to put the effort into something that is quite easy to do. If there's a will there is a way. Just don't come on here complaining about "clubs" and bs like that, as no one wants to hear that junk.

Forget about it...
Thank you anyway Lymond, you're among the few that have at least tried to help me...
Don't worry I will seldom bother anybody again on this forum. ( As if dealing with XML files and Python is a simple ballgame. But you guys know everything, sorry, I had forgotten I am just a small piece of S*** newbee. Thanks again for the despise like attitude ) Fortunately they have other forums on the net where they have a better attitude with Newbees.... I don't tink I'm the agressive one here ( see "frog3 and CajNatalie )

And I have not opened that msf mile...
And I repeat illegal stuff should then not be allowed on the net,. It fools people like me that think that because it's on the net on a org site, it is legal... So don't put it on me.

MODERATOR : THANK YOU FOR CLOSING THAT THREAD

1. Please read the thread again. People have been helpful until you remarked (on a forum that explicitly states a zero-tolerance policy towards piracy in its rules) that you downloaded a pirated copy of the game. Actually, I planned on checking whether the stores in my vicinity still have the "Green Pepper" pack for 6,99 Euro that I was talking about, and I was prepared to send it to you simply trusting you that you'd refund my costs (I can be a rather trusting person, and you seemed nice enough to take the risk). I immediately stopped that when I learned that you downloaded a pirated copy though. So don't claim that Newbies don't get any help on this forum.

2. Your claim that you committed no piracy because you only downloaded a pirated copy without actually installing it, has no merit. It's like saying that copying confidential documents at work and storing them at home is totally okay as long as you don't use them. Or like saying that illegally owning a weapon is totally okay as long as you don't fire it. If it were that easy, then everybody would be hoarding uninstalled pirated copies at home, and keep only the one or two games installed that they're actually playing. And if the police showed up, they'd just say "Yeah, I own these pirated copies, but I never used them, so I'm fine, huh?".

3. Blaming law enforcement for not removing tempting illegal stuff from the net is a non-argument. You are responsible for your actions. Imagine someone stole your wallet, and later argued "Well, JMV made it really easy for me, the wallet was in plain sight and very tempting. And the police wasn't looking. So it's not my fault, they are to blame because they tempted me and didn't stop me." You'd be fully convinced, right?

Frankly, I'm astonished to hear these kinds of arguments from someone who claims to be over 50. I do usually hear them from people in their young teens, but not from grown-ups with several decades of life experience on their backs.

Edit:
4. Editing your post and now claiming that you thought the torrent was legal, when the whole conversation clearly shows that this can't be true, while at the same time deleting all your previous posts, is ... well ... I'll limit my response to just shaking my head.

Ok, if we can cool down somewhat...
I try and explain again.

1 ) I'm very pissed off not beeing able to DL a 10 Euro game when I'm ready to pay 40, because the banks won't give me a CC, because I am not working ( Or find a way on a forum were everybody is supposed to be helpfull, and when I am ready to pay x3 or x4 for it.) If someone is taking a risk here, it's me, and me alone...I bought Civ IV legally, I'm just missing BTS and W. I'm pissed of against the banks above all, and I'm probably not alone. Of course, you guy, you can't realize that and you don't care, I understand that...

2 ) Ok, I understand your example about weapons. But in my country ( which is not Ireland ) firearms are forbidden. You just cannot purchase a firearm unless you have a valid permit. PERIOD. Even on the internet... SO...

3 ) SO I apologize for having DL'ed a file that I did'nt even open because I don't know how to open it, and I HAVE DELETED IT. To the garbage, down the drain, flushed..AM I understood here ! ( I am not like those that laugh loud at me saying I should be forbidden to play Civ 4 because I don't know how to open an mdf file. those guys as can be deduced have DL'ed them many time and they darn know well how to do. HYPOCRISY, HYPOCRISY, Oh yeah you're doing fine as always !....)
I did'nt know those files were illegal. There is not even a warning saying "caution, what you are doing is against the law" or whatever... How can I know ? For example, last year I downloaded "Full Spectrum Warrior" at Gamershell and it's a normal zip file. I believe it's ok, Am I wrong ??

4 ) I understand your example about firearms, what I was saying is, if those mdf files are forbidden, why are those sites not closed down, as they are illegal. So some people of good faith like me, desperately trying to get a 10 $ game woul'nt be fooled into DLing a file they did'nt know was illegal for DL. Am I understood here, am I not logical ??

5 ) You say : "Blaming law enforcement for not removing tempting illegal stuff from the net is a non-argument. You are responsible for your actions"
Well yes, but if they were removed because they are illegal, and if the law was REALLY enforced, it would be more logical, and there would not be any mistake. Also I would not look like the village jerk, with everyone laughing at me because I can't be a normal citizen with a CC or cursing me for something ( I did'nt even use the file ) I did'nt even know about. This is not fair. The firearm example is somewhat a bad example anyway, and trust me, no matter what, in my country you don't get it on the internet or else, unless you have a due auto, and they darn tell you it's illegal. !

So, I apologize, OK, I lay flat on the carpet. I flushed the darn non opened and unused file.
Can we go back to square one, please, because I'am not the whipping boy either...
