Help In My War Against Microsoft!

Aesop?

BTW, is there a way to run Win apps on Linux? I'm just beginning to consider a changeover.

I already replied, but I'll expand upon my answer (since I don't think anyone else here actually USES Cedega).

Cedega is $15 for a 3-month subscription. After that you still get full use of the program, but you don't receive any more updates. That is okay. Just subscribe again if you absolutely need new updates to support a game you just bought.

As for support.. Cedega supports every game I own except BTS (which BTS support should be coming in the next update). How well they are supported varies, but for the most part the massively popular games (WoW, Warcraft, Starcraft, RomeTQ, etc.) work almost flawlessly. As long as your not in the habit of playing Barbie World 4 or something your probably in pretty good shape. Also do not expect support for games the minute the come out. It usually takes a while (around a month) to support a new game, but if your just a casual gamer who doesn't need the latest and greatest.. that's okay.

You can look at the Cedega supported games list here.

Hopefully as non windows OSes become more popular game developers will write more games that aren't tied to a certain platform. Until then I don't see linux boxes being big gaming machines. Though there are a few linux games out there.

TBH I think Windows would have to be significantly challenged (as in: bumped down to 50-60% or less of the OS market) before you'll see regular multi-OS game releases. The odds of that happenning anytime soon... aren't so good.
