So I'm fairly new to Civ, I've just started a game on Noble and I have no idea where to build my 2nd city.

This is the portion of the world that I've explored so far:

I'm playing as HC of Incan fame, it's 2600BC and I've researched Fishing, The Weel, Mining, Agriculture, BW, Mysticism and AH. As you can see the BFC for my capital is pretty spectacular resource-wise...

...but I'm just two turns from a settler build and I'm pretty stuck :(

Any help for a n00b? (Loving the game btw)

EDIT - playing on epic speed.

EDIT 2 - and I have stonehenge :D

Say please!

For real though, 2nd city placement most often should be food heavy, for crucial rare resources OR blocking purposes.

The latter two aint a big deal at the moment since your opponents not seem to be close

either place your 2nd city 1 tile SW of the Corn or 1N of the phants if you want to be sure to get the phants

Good luck on your future endeavors!

EDIT 2 - and I have stonehenge :D
Settle on the elephants. When your borders pop in 15 turns, that will get you the corn and horses too. Fast growth, a good military unit for fighting barbarians, a happiness resource, and two hammers from the city tile is about all you could want from a second city.

Why would you combine those phants with the corn?

You can get a very good city with floodplains and corn, and it is not like the phant city will have problems with food. And settling on a phant with a financial hero, really?

I'm not exactly brilliant at this game, and part of the reason I'm posting this is so that those who are better than me can tell me exactly why I'm wrong....

I would settle 1N of the horses directly to your capitol's north. Monty is one of your closest neighbors (probably) and I think you can make a decent production city there. With Monty close by I'd want to get a production city pumping out units asap. I'd then chop out a second settler to claim the ivory.
