I was hoping that we could start up a Strategy & Tips for other games thing, like the one for Civ 2. People just ask for help with whatever game they're stuck on and the might of Civ Fanatics come to their aid (Or look on the net for the answers

). Anyone interested?

Being the self-interested bastard that I am, I'll kick off the fun:

I'm playing Zelda: Link's Awakening on Gameboy. I've looked on the net for a walkthrough, but it doesn't give much detail. I'm trying to kill the genie boss at the end of Dungeon 2. The guide says to pick up his genie bottle and smash it by throwing it, but the thing's alive and doesn't do anything when it hit it with the sword. I've got bombs and loads of arrows if they'll be any use. Please help.

Et en plus, ma version est en francais! Qui m'a beaucoup aidé lorsque j'ai passé ma licence en francais car j'ai dû traduire le mot "shell", et grâce à Zelda, je connais le mot "coquillage". Et voilà Prince Charles, les jeux d'ordinateur sont des utils pedagogiques excellents!

Le francais est tres bete, pourquoi fais-tu la license en francais? Il faut obtenir le version anglais, et alors il serait facile de détruire le genie.

. Parce que tu n'arrives pas à comprendre bien le francais, je continuerai en anglais:

I am not doing a French degree, I finished it last year, and the reason I have the French version of Zelda is simple: I bought it in France when I was working there and realised that their telly is shockingly bad (about a week into my stay). The game is basically the same though whatever language you play it in, so can I please have some constructive help in whichever language (preferably English or French) on how to beat this pesky djinn.

Genie:
(Items Needed: SWORD, POWER BRACELET)
This boss is a little harder. To defeat him you must wait for him to get in his pot, and then pick it up and throw it with your power bracelet. Reapete this process until his pot brakes and then dodge his fires and hit him with your sword when you get the chance. This may be tricky but about 6 hits should kill him. This earns you a heart and the Conch Horn.

Duhhh. Just because I was stupid enough to write a bit in French on the end of my message, it seems like this has turned intyo another French discussion thread. Oops. We might alienate other people who can't find the Amulet of Gopwad in Wolverine's Tooth VII or whatever they're stuck on.

Bah, don't worry, your French is excellent, though.
Back to Zelda, I can't help you but I may suggest a online Zelda-like, called Graal. Try it, you won't regret...

I definitely would regret it if anyone at work caught me playing it.
I haven't got internet access at home so this means I can't play multi or even the GOTMs because all the disk drives have locks on them. I should really get a better job, with more trusting employers just so I can exploit that trust.

Aren't there any libraries in your town with internet access computers? There are three libraries with computers and floppy drives in my little town of 10,000 citizens (In fact I'm in one right now!) ...then you could dl the gotms...
