Help! My CivIV starts to run then....

I got past my problem with it closing b4 it loaded. Now it lets me got to single player or w/e and click, then i go to play the rev. scen. or the tutorial and as soon as the window comes back and i get all the specs down, the game initializes completely loads, and then... nothing, it goes back to the desktop. Ive been trying for about 3 hours! cant get ahold of the help desk and email keeps getting failure as having gotten thru. Thank you if you can help. I really appreciate it.

Service Pack 2. An upgrade for Windows XP from Microsoft.

I have the same problem... Some kind of PYTHON bug according to the logs...

I had a similar problem when I got Pirates!, which uses the same graphics engine as Civ 4. It turns out the problem was my video card, it didn't support Hardware T&L. After getting a new card I never had any problems. Maybe if you people would list your specs, someone might be able to help you more.
