I just got hold of Civ III (Not PtW) and after installing the 1.29f patch it still does this;

When I dbl click the icon to get the game going I get an error that reads;

"Driver Components Mis-match. Exit is the only option."

What in all things godly do I do?

Argh! I feel I have wasted my money!! :(

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Chris

I see something about OpenGL, so I assume this has something to do with you graphics card driver. You should try to download the latest version of that driver, and this can be found on the support website of the company that manufactured your graphics card.

While I'm not sure this is related to an OpenGL problem, you might also want to download DirectX 8.1: www.microsoft.com/directx

I assume you're running under Windows and not a Mac?

Thanks for the reply Sim_one, I should have posted this information initially;

Windows XP
32Mb GeForce 2 440MX w/ 41.09 DetonatorXP drivers.
DirectX 8.1

I've checked the OpenGL site for information on drivers however it says that the latest copy of the OGL drivers are installed with the OS, in this case WinXP.

I haven't a clue what to do about the whole nasty situation.

Anyone with any clues?

Chris

You can try to uninstall your Civ3 and then reinstall it. After doing that reinstall the 1.29f patch.

If doing that still gives you problems, then uninstall and reinstall again but this time don't install the 1.29f patch, since it seems that the patch is the thing giving you problems.

Thanks for the reply Sim_One, unfortunately, I still can't get it to work :/ I get the same error with the original, non-patched game as I do with the patched game....

I have a dual monitor set up with 2 different cards, and even with one enabled, one disabled and/or either primary monitor, I still get the error.

Any more clues?

Thanks again for your help so far ;)
