hey I'm new to civ. i just bought civ 4 complete edition as a digital download from amazon. I installed everything fine but when i went to run it tons of xml errors pop up when the loading bar says init xml(uncached). It seems endless and the errors are various but they all say XML error / xml load error. I literally held down the enter key and it was just a constant stream of errors

i got things like
"error locating tag node in setglobalstringarrayfunction"
"failed loading xml file xml\interface/(somefilename) reason: not declared in DTD/Schema"
"LoadXML call failed for _____"
"Tag: ____ in Info class was incorrect Current XML file is _____"
"Allocating zero or less memory in ____"
"There are more siblings than memory allocated for them in ____"

all of these errors repeat for several files each without end. im so confused by this and i have tried reinstalling and a lot of the other suggestions on the forums but to no avail.

can anyone make any sense of this and help please? i really want to play :(.

OS: Windows 7 home 64bit

The only thing i can think of is that there could be a problem with your systems msxml3.dll

That should be included with win7, but who knows, maybe somethings messed up. Try if you can find a setup or update of "MS XML Core Services 3.0" for your OS on Microsofts servers somewhere.

I guess it could also be that the installer of that "amazon digital download complete edition" doesn't get things right on your system. Not sure how we could diagnose that.. I'd suggest you download QuickSFV, generate a checksum file of your install dir and upload that somewhere. If you do that i'll check/compare if there any files missing or different.

Did you try changing the installation dir as was suggested in a recent thread here?
