Help! Problem with downloading files

Every time I download a .bic file (scenario) from one of the forums here on this site, when I select to play it on the game menu it says it cannot load because 'it may be corrupt'.

How do you I tackle this?

What version of civ are you using? Vanilla Civ 1.07? 1.16? 1.17? 1.21? 1.29? PTW 1.01? 1.04? 1.14?

There are different versions? lol

I don't have PTW, I have the original civ 3 compatible with windows 95/98/2000.

Does it matter?

If you are playing "Vanilla" (original) Civ3, you want to be sure you are patched to v1.29f. It fixes lots of bugs.
