Hi, long time lurker, love the mod.

I am trying to get the flexible difficulty option in the BUG menu to work properly for both myself and the AI. It seems to change my difficulty regularly as needed, but the AI difficulties change a few times early on and then not at all.

Using the Chipotle cheat, I was able to view the AI difficulties. They were all noble or Monarch despite me changing several times up to immortal (I started at Noble). It's early enough in the game that several AIs are still ahead of me, but other are also getting wiped out. I really want this option to work for the long term game, to avoid small civs getting crushed, and also avoid the late game bore once you achieve superiority.

Can anyone explain what might be happening?

Using v36, though can switch to SVN if that fixes the issue.

Thanks in advance.

If AI difficulty climbs, for them it makes them weaker, as they can not handle the extra load that a player can.

So if the AI is staying at Noble and you are at Immortal then you are being challenged as it is supposed to be.

I think you missed the point. I have no passed the civ that was above me, and several are still close, but the smaller civs are not getting the bonuses they should to remain competitive. At this rate, I'll have the game well in hand by the middle ages.

I did some research for anyone that is interested. For AI flexible difficulty, it based off being at least a standard deviation away from the mean score, which requires a pretty large difference. Additionally, human players can set the number of turns between difficulty increases, the AI is set based on game length.

I am new to modding, but if anyone could point me to where the settings for the standard deviation and the turns for AI difficulty, I'd love to tinker with them.

Thanks

There may be some global defines or it may be in the bug options. The global defines are in the XML folder and you can search for key terms and may end up finding something that can help you there.
