my computor, whenever I log on, sets off about 50 internet explorers. I have to delete ALL of them then open firefox. Why does it happen and how can I do it?

Unless you somehow dropped 50 shortcuts to IE in the startup folder, my first thought would be spyware or a virus.

It's doing it already isn't it?

You want to stop it? Well, there's lot of solutions. You could stop it by using Linux - I guarantee you, IE will never open 50 Windows again.

Alternatively, Google for Spybot Search & Destroy, download and run, and be amazed at the amount of sneaky spyware that has crept onto your computer.

A decent free anti-virus like Avast would be a good idea too.

They don't open a website that says I love gay porn do they? Happened to me work once after clicking on an unsuspecting link. :wallbash: Panic, power switch.....

That could be too late... better solution is to STOP USE INTERNET EXPLORER.

Use Firefox with the NoScript extension, as well as many others that help secure your computer/privacy.

But admiral-bell said in the first post that he would open firefox after closing those windows, so I assume he is already using it.

There're ways to bypass FireFox's popup blocker... so it's worth mentioning there're extensions you can use.

He is probably right, it looks like you got something nasty installed in your PC.
Try installing Ad-Aware, like he said, and after cleaning up the PC install a Firewall, if you already don't have one. Zone-Alarm is free and contains no spyware, I use it all the time. Also run the anti-virus.

If that doen't solve the problem automatically, that means that I am wrong, but nonetheless you will be able to surf the internet more safely .

Why not give up on the IE? I use Netscape, remember Netscape? I have no problems with it.
