Please post on this thread helpful hints about using this great website.

I would also like to know how to get one of those pictures by your name on the left? Can anyone tell me? :) :D

First of all, use the Main Forums page a lot. At the bottom, you'll find the Site Feedback forum where this will inevitably get moved.

Custom avatars are available after 300 posts, custom titles are available after 30. These and other wonderful site features have good information in the F.A.Q. and if you have Civilization III individual questions, the moderators prefer you use the Quick Answers thread rather than open a new one.

Other than that, all I can really advise you to do is to stay out of the religious threads in Off-Topic, because unless you're atheist, you're wrong.

This really should be in Site Feedback. I'll move it.

In OT: cgannon is wrong, anyone is right.

In Civ3 mp forum: no one helps but me.

In pbem forum: New pbems open about once every couple of days.

The civ3 General Discussion forum is the place for new people.

Site Feedback is for many old posters who want to spam.

Pissing off moderators is a bad idea.

Chatroom is on irc. (use irc.irc-chat.org) or the Java applet.

Custom avatars are avaible after 300 posts and are 65 x 65 pixels

Welcome :)

Don't be afraid to ask questoins. . . Obviously, this won't be a problem for you.

And if you get flamed, well, we're very forgiving around here, and usually forget it next week.

Oh, and in OT, stay away from the Creationism Vs Evolution threads. . . Unless you really like :wallbash:

Oh yeah. Leave the PMs feature on. Otherwise you'll be banned, or humilated on the boards instead of in private. I think Curt had his off and was going to be simply warned, but got banned instead. :hmm: Wonder where the ol' skeleton has been.... :p

Another good tip is to stay out of Evolution and other relgious threads. You'll never win. Ever.

When in chat, if WF is in there being a problem child, leave. It's only going to get worse... :p And tell Chieftess what's up if something's going wrong in chat. That woman is tough. :goodjob:

And whatever you do, try not to spam too much. Especially in Photo thread where it's tempting. No more than two posts between on topic pictures. Learned this one the hard way. The forums aren't the chat room and you can't write to people back and forth with one liners like "yeah, cool!" "thanks" or go extremely off topic like:
Poster #1 "I think there is a real problem in Iraq."
You "Dude, I saw the most awesome movie about dogs today. Really! There was a brown one!"

Helpful "hint." ;)

:goodjob: Nothing really meaningful because..well.. you're online and it's tricky. This goes for some platonic situations too. ;)

The first thing I owuld suggest is that posters get aquainted with The Forum Rules.

Actually, that goes for the chatroom or any fora. Any problems, then use the 'report post to moderator' link.:)

Actually, "Don't spam at all" would be better advice. And I believe that there are rules that state no posts between pictures in the picture threads. :hmm:
