High end arcane promotions

How is one supposed to get the Protector, Destroyer and Omnipotence promotions on a unit? While they do look neat, I don't see getting the prerequisites through leveling up as feasible (60+ levels). Getting them through automatic promotions due to mana seems more possible - I could see D'Tesh spamming Rites of Oghma from one supercity every few turns until ~10% of the map is covered in mana and then building Lord D'Tesh. But that probably runs a good chance of an AI going and winning a Tower of Mastery victory in the meantime.
 
That's actually a pretty good idea and it fits D'Tesh (and the Legion) very well. A little off topic but does Rites of Oghma destroy improvements? I would think that mana bursting out of the ground or falling from the sky would tear up the land quite a bit, which of course, is pretty D'Teshi. :lol:
 
It doesn't. But it can spawn under existing improvements. I've had 2 of the new mana from a single Rites spawn under citadels.

But at first you should open the promotion info xml and change master_of_creation miscast chance to something like 8% or so because atm it is horribly awful (8% should be balanced)

Then you first have to go for divination. skill law and sun. this has two advantages:
sun 2 is a good defending spell,law2 host of the einherjar have guardsman and somewhat good strength. then with law 3 and sun 3 you receive valor (and aurealis) and master of law and sun (grants +1 holy damage and +1 xp per combat)

With master of law and sun, valor and general with leadership promotion you have +2 xp/combat,+150% xp combat.

Then you should go and find orthus axe if you dont already have it.

and undead are a bad choice because they are unaffected by valor

and mutate your caster so that he receives bonusstrength (conviction/strong/heroic strength/heroic defense) and NOT heavy.

good choices for omnipotent mage are: Amurites, Grigori, Kahd.

Good units: Gaelan, Kahd, Amurite Archmage (mithril weapons, hurray), Hemah

Thats what i think. Ah and i would recommend to sync the tower of divination with finishing arcane lore and have instant strength of will :D. I had archmages in turn 190 or earlier on epic speed
 
you can receive about 30 xp per turn with fighting. on average i would say 15-20 and its much more fun :P

I totally agree.

I played Calabim where Gibbon Goetia became a Vampire, so he reached the needed levels easily. But in the end, the only gain i had was his 25 :strength: and his Immortality promotion. (I know its lame but i wanted to have a Mastermage immediatly^^)

The main problem is that he becomes up to 4 rounds unable to cast. Finally he has a 60-70% lower cast rate.

You live much better without creation.
