I think it would be awesome if Hitler was in Civ 4 - There would be something amusing about seeing an enraged Hitler is full Nazi uniform demanding a peace treaty as your troops surround Berlin.

But I doubt he'll be in it. He would be rather controversial, and would probably tick off a lot of Germans. (He would at least have to be removed for the European version)

I have decided to suggest some different leaders. I am getting more and more tired of people suggesting the same rulers that are already in place in Civ III. Why not kick out some of the old ones and replace them?

E.G.

Aztecs: Keep Montezuma
Chinese: (Hongwu, Yongle, Qianlong, Dowager Empress Cixi, Sun-Yatsen, Chiang Kai-Shek)
English: I'd like to see Henry VIII, James I, Oliver Cromwell, Prince Albert, Queen Victoria, Churchill...)
French: De Gaulle. Please
Germans: Bismarck, Kaiser Wilhelm, or Hitler
Greeks: Pericles would be nice, but Alexander is more of a national figure
Indians: Chandragupta Maurya, Akbar, Shah Jahan, Nehru
Japanese: Hideyoshi, Meiji, Nobunaga, Emperor Hirohito
Spanish: Charles V
Persians: Cyrus
Mongols: Kublai or Ogadai

I tend to agree - I remember somewhere that fanaticism (or similar) was removed as a Civ3 govt due to Sept. 11th?

I think they'd try to steer-clear of anything too controversial - so I do wonder about the accuracy of that statement. Maybe some firaxis pre-release inside joke? Eg. maybe someone made hitler as place-holder art? I really can't see him being in the final version....

From a gaming standpoint, I would love the chance to take on Hitler given the fleshed-out AI personalities they are developing. However, I assume that there are a lot of people that might take exception to his inclusion as a playable character. Gamer or not, the idea of playing as hitler is a touchy subject. I don't think there is a game out there that allows that...and for good reason. Personally it doesn't really matter to me.

I think it would be great if there where two german leaderheads, Wilhelm II/Bismarck or Hindenburg and Adolf!

One to symbolize the great old Preussen values, and one really radical leader!

I would find it natural that they used the actual leaders of that time in historical scenarios. There are plenty of other controversial leaders as well that should be excluded as well if they intend to avoid leaders that started great wars and "committed crimes against humanity". When it comes to anti - semitism, Hitler was not alone to persecute jews. Roman emperors, pharaos, babylonians, the catholics and plenty others have done that as well. And should the Knights Templar be left out because of their massmurderings in Palestine, or the Americans because of their treatment of the native americans and the slaves?

Not to mention Spanish leaders, which are included in Civ3 and Civ2.

Again, with the sensitive people....... I say YAY for putting him in, since he IS a historical figure, regardless of what he did during his life. Unless you want everybody do rewrite history to wipe him all out.. Hey I hear some guy wrote a book where he exposes the holocaust was a huge fraud, and that it never happened! lol

Hitler would most certainly be removed from the German version, but the game will be completely translated into German anyway, so it won't affect other versions.

The german version could have Willy Brandt or Helmut Kohl as the german leaderhead! Let the rest of us get the chance to play against Hitler, Stalin and Mao!

I also think Erich Honnecker would be a great german leader in CIV!

I not even sure he would surrender in civ. I got Rcme to 2-3 cities left and they offered me 5gpt for peace! Max.
