Ok, I have been looking around for the past day or two and I found out that there is one thing that was once the most powerfull thing in the world that was missing, exploration. I was thinking that when the Moderator of the Gam makes the map, he first covers it with black paint and when Player1 wants to move thier units north to explore, the moderator opens a lttle to the north to show what he discovered.

The only thing that my be different is that what Player1 explores Player2 can see the same. This would make it more realistic and better. This is only of course you dont decide to make it a World Map game.

Please post comments, constructive critiscm and ideas. Thanks. BTW, this is only an idea, you can take it anytime and make it. Jus let me know when you do so I could join it :).

I think this is a good idea, but it would be hard for others to understand.

Plus, modding an NES with exploring would be tough.

woow, really like the idea, I take Holland (if it is late enough) if not I am England (Ha Jason, I got them before you:P)

THIS IS NOT A NES YET!
It will be AFTER my board nes is killed...
And it will require stories.

amirsan, did you mean for story nes's or for board ones?

if you meant story ones, they basicaly do that. (may be white instead of black, but same idea).
if you mean board ones then well, i thought about trying some sort of exploration, but there's just too many problems:
1. for real exploration, the players wouldnt know where the others are. which mean somehow sending each player his own part of the map. except that they'll tell eachother where they are.. so that means the mod has to keep the real map and real starting locations from the players themselves (so noone but the mod knows where they are till they meet).
2. if we ignore that part, then it can just be that the players dont know how the layout of the provinces looks unitll they walk into them, but that wont realy add much to the game and will be time consuming with the updates.
3. it would be worth it if the different provinces had different stuff in them when the players first discovered them, but that would require adding a whole new concept to the games, that could be prety tough on a mod, not to mention very dificult to balance. and what would you put in there? free armies? gold? hostile natives? free cities/barracks or whatever other buildings are used in the game.

if you made both good and bad things, then some players would be crippled compared to others.
if you made only good things then it would just speed up the game start and nothing more
if you made only bad things then it would seriously slow down the game start.

you dont realy gain too much from it for the "expense" of the mod's time.

there will be a huge development of colonisation and exploring in NEO IV once get get to its corresposing aga *wonder why the map is so 'limited' at the current era?*

Well, the thing about exploration is that you would need a completely unique map, because with a world map, people would already know the general lay of the land.

oh...That's a nice idea...I believe I shall make one sometime or another...

I'm thinking of making a Sci-Fi nes with a map which is just plain black. Nations are randomly thrown onto the map.
