HOF Questions and Answers Thread

It's discussed in the 625K with Inca thread.
I carefully read that thread, but nothing about UN bug.
Would you please post a link?

Or shortly tell us what is that bug?

or both?

It's not about the UN it's about abusing the score due to colonies on a huge map.

Seems like not being able to change AI's civics diplomatically should impact A LOT more games than global warming(which is not actually bugged, just pretty powerful). It certainly affects pretty much all diplo wins, and to some extent the other VC's.

If that's the case, I think I can describe it. There are 5 kinds of civics. You are supposed to be allowed to bribe AI to change any of them. When an AI goes into their favourite civic, you are not allowed to bribe them out of it... that's ok, that's a good thing. The problem is, when they are in their favourite civic, you can not bribe them to change any of the other 4 kinds of civics (!)

HOF rules set the limit of AI amount for each map size. Is it strong rule? For example I see Tiny map with 6 opponents in HOF table...

The min/max number of opponents is required when you initially start the game and at the start only. If later in the game you go over the maximum number of opponents we do not hold that against you.

I am sorry, but you obviously seem to miss the problem. With most AI's you can't bribe them into ANY civics ever despite having friendly relations with them because there is a bug in the code that treats you as cautionous for doing so(so only the AI's that can be bribed into a civic at cautionus are bribable). This includes bribing AI's INTO their fav civic..

A few days ago, I had to replace my hard disk because my old hard disk was broken. I had to reinstall Civ4/BTS and the HoF mod again since they were installed on the old disk.

When I now open the save of one of the SG's I'm playing with the HoF mod, I'm not getting any interface from the regular screen. (And yes, I already tried alt-I etc.) Any idea why this happens and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure that Vanilla is patched to 1.74 and BTS is patched to 3.17 afterwards. Run the patches manually rather than through the Advanced menu. Sometimes they don't install correctly.

The bug is fixed in the Unoffical Patch 0.21. When we release a new version of the HOF Mod, we will include the appropriate fixes made since 0.19. (HOF-3.17.001 includes fixes as of 0.19.)

I think I've found my problem. HOF doesn't like BUG.

Every time I start a game with the hall of fame mod it tells me on my first turn that my game is not eligible for the HoF and to check my game settings. I am using BtS 3.17 and have read the rules very carefully, all victories set, legal map, correct number of players, locked modified assets checked, etc. I can't seem to get any map to work, what could be my problem?

Are you running the game with an administrative account? If you're running the game in XP and you're not an administrator, you're games won't be accepted.

Are you using Vista? There is a list of Vista Fixes you can try.

As Ozbenno suggested you should check F8 to see what it says. If your Assets have been modified (i.e. installed mods like unoffical patch) that could be your problem. There is a Assetchecker program you can use to check.

Ok, I ran the AssetsChecker and it found over a thousand errors. I don't know how anything could be not as it should though, I just reinstalled the game a few days ago and the 3.17 patch and haven't altered anything. I'm running xp by the way and am using the admin account (to answer the reverend.) And I don't see it being a problem because of an unofficial patch becasue most of the errors were in the civ4 and warlords sections.

EDIT: yep, I just checked the settings in the F8 menu and it told me my assets aren't right. How should I fix this? As I mentioned I don't see how a simple reinstall will work.

Did you install the vanilla patch 1.74? BTS and Warlord share the Vanilla Assets. The unofficial patch will cause problems too but not so many. Some people have found that running Windows Update cleans up something that causes a lot of bad checksum results. (Typical they see files listed as not found and then as extra.)
