Actually, I thought it is and was a VERY Good Question......don't get me wrong....just my 2 cents worth "off the cuff"! :)

As did I! I appreciate any suggestion/idea that might enlist more competition. I just have to disagree with this one since it would kind of grain against site policy.

Of course, the call is really Aeson's, as always. I'm just offering a third and fourth penny off my own cuffs.

I don't mind offering myself to translate over to spanish whatever is needed at CFC. Although I doubt there are any spanish sid-level players browsing this HOF forum. I'm not one.

Problem is that here in Spain, and throughout Europe, the C3C is not compatible with the US version of the game so we cannot send or upload saves; or am I mistaken? I suppose that european players wanting to send their saves would need the american version of C3C, no?

Drakan

I used the UK version of C3C for both of the games I submitted. I don't know if this is different from other european versions and/or the US version

If anyone wants to volunteer to translate the rules to another language, that would be great. There have been some difficulties in that regard, as most of the submissions I've had to exclude seem to be because the rules weren't fully understood by those who speak other languages.

-------

If I still finish in a good time (I don't know if I will, since it is about 500 AD and I only have Pyramids, SoZ, GL, and Sistine Chapel), could I still submit it anyway? Disallowing cultural conversions certainly hasn't helped my game at all, and has probably cost me an extra source of dyes and incense that I could have gotten through cultural conversion.

The game settings impact the game too much to be making exceptions on. I believe you that it hasn't impacted your game, but allowing the cultural conversions setting in one game would open the door for others where it would be a bigger factor. I'd rather keep it an off/on decision, rather than making it necessary to define some arbitrary and difficult to support limit to what type of games would be allowable with it off.

Thanks Drakan for offering to translate into Spanish! :goodjob: :goodjob:

Can't answer your questions but non-English-speaking players at ANY level would be welcome on the HOF Lists.......I "picked" on the Sid-Level Germans just because they have been recent "Notables" as has the Czech Master, KANAM.

IMHO, here's the BIG QUESTION: If you don't read English, WHY would you go to CFC?!
So, unless CFC gets some "Non-U.S.-U.K. Flags" at the Civ Fansite index (viz. www.civ3.com) and/or at the CFC Home Page AND "directs" "foreigners" to those areas of CFC which are bi-lingual (i.e. HOF), how can this be put into practice?! :)

Oh well. Thanks anyway. Losing the opportunity to get cultural conversions made it a bit less fun anyway. Besides, in the time waiting for a response, I started another game where I got off to a slower start but might be able to finish in better time.

Yes thanks Draken! If the world has two international languages, one of them is Spanish!

NO!......but THEY do!

Last time I checked, this site was FREE!!.......But, perhaps we could get bi-lingual volunteers to translate the Rules?

Also, the BIG question is: Is it NECESSARY to have the Rules in another language(s)? :)

P.s. I bet ALL those Sid-Level-Playing Germans read English! ;)
I need no translation. My English ist good enough. And a forum is a wonderful chance to learn a languages. :scan:

Now if only us native-English-speakers had the WONDERFUL attitude of you Germans!

P.s. teastar, did you really play 5 HOF games in ONE day?!....AWESOME! :)

My guess would be that he found this forum, or the HOF section, on that day he submitted. Finishing one whole Sid game in one day would be impressive enough.

No! I press the download button 2 times, because at first nothing happend. And: Yesterday our german forum was down. So I have time to send the 2 SID-Victory of last week. I forget to send it.

My last SID-Game startet on 1st July and ended yesterday.
You can see pictures here: Standard map Greece C3C 1.22 -> Griech. Wein
I played it during the Euro 2004 in Portugal (Soccer). It is an hommage for "Otto Rehagel". The german trainer of Greece. I know he will win. I named one Leader :king: "Otto the Great". :) :band:
The second SID-Victory is only a Conquest-Victory, tiny map. Only 2 hours. :spear:

Hello,

I have just finished a game with the Sumerian and since I did not think I would win (it was my second attempt at Monarch level), I have not saved my original map. Now that I have win, I want to submit to the HOF but unfortunately, the first file misses. But I had the idea to use "Replay last game" in order to generate the original map. Is it ok to do this?

Regards

I'm just curious, I fully intend to play by the rules... but is there a way you can tell in the submission if someone has used exploits? Or are people on their honor?

BOTH! ;)

Aeson will take a look to make sure you played by the Rules..........sometimes you might break a Rule INADVERTENTLY (viz. unintentionally/accidentally).

HONOR is still required as it's still easy to cheat and NOT be caught! :)

It's good to know that there's some accountability involved, that way it gives more meaning to people who get the good scores.
