Hooray's Maps

I'm a little confused by the third one, though, since I can't tell what is supposed to represent what.

Yeah, I had a hard time interpreting it at first as well, but basically, the areas of strongly concentrated green blobs are of interest when placing forests. As long as the others are sufficient, I'm relieved.

Well, have fun out of town! I would be extremely happy once you "officially" take up this request. :goodjob:

Got started a little bit on the Germany map today. The coastline is drawn in to my satisfaction. I've also drawn a very rough approximation of modern borders so I can use them as points of reference. You can really tell I wasn't trying too hard on the border between Poland and Czech Republic/Slovakia. ;)

The size is 110 x 90. I squeezed the minimap preview so it doesn't look so stretched out.

DUDE?!?!?!?!?! That is absolutely perfect!!! My god, I'm going to have a blast modding that puppy! That area is EXACTLY the area I had pictured in my mind. I want to thank you again for taking up my request, it turned out to be a good idea to ask you to make it. I'm really excited! :goodjob:

I'm so angry... I decided to work a little more on the map today, and I actually put in all the hills and mountain ranges. And then... the .biq file mysteriously deleted itself after I saved it. I lost a lot of progress, and I don't think I can do work on the map again until I've cooled down.

At least I didn't lose it all. I've been saving each stage of development on the map on separate files. Not sure why, I guess I just like documenting my progress. I only have to go to the earlier file where the hills and mountains haven't been put in yet. Still, I'll never get them back in exactly as I had them before.

This has happened once or twice to me before, where saving a .biq seems to delete it instead. It is a very exasperating phenomenon.

Okay, I didn't stay angry for as long as I thought I would. This morning I put the hills and mountains back in. Still, it just doesn't seem as good as the first time I did it. I hope it's nothing more than selective memory at work.

I'm concerned about the large areas of hill terrain. This is one thing I don't like about realistic maps. On this map, a city like München would never grow beyond size two. I'll leave it to the scenario designer to resolve the problem, but I can make suggestions if you ask.

The map pretty much just needs forests and it'll be done. The only other thing is that maybe Plains terrain would be appropriate in some places, but I don't know where.

Well I'll be damned...that's one fine looking map. And worry not, I will take care of all the balancing and fine-tuning. But with this map, I have a really good base to start off of. I want to thank you for making such a fine map, the scenario is sure to look marvelous! Could you post a download link for it?

I've completed a "rough draft" of the map. If it meets with your approval then I can consider it finished. I would have no problem making any changes you require, though.

Zip file containing the .biq is attached.

After looking at it, I came to the conclusion that this map looks really good. I'm very satisfied with it, but would kill myself if I didn't at least ask this...is it possible to make it slightly smaller at this stage?

I figure not and since it's the only thing I'd change, just leave it as it is. You know what, forget what I just typed...it IS perfect. Thanks man, this scenario is going to be great! If there's ever any way I can repay you, just say so and I'll see what I can do. :goodjob:

Yeah, I don't how I could make it smaller. I think there's a way to chop tiles off the map, but there's no way to shrink it to a smaller scale short of remaking it from the ground up. I'm sorry I can't help, but you would have needed to ask me to change the size much earlier.

Well, I guess you're satisfied anyway. If you want to repay me, just finish those scenarios. I'm really looking forward to Sei-i Taishogun. I'll be interested to see how the Germany scenario turns out too.

I'll go post the final map, but you won't need to download it since it will be identical to the file I already posted.

^ Sorry about the size thing...I actually told you to make it that size, so it's all my fault for not telling you early enough to change them (I didn't know how they would compare in relativity to the tiles). But to be honest, after seeing how the cities fit onto the map, it actually is the perfect size. Once again, thank you and I'll be sure to get those scenarios finished. :D

Hmm. I'll consider both requests once I've looked up how those maps look. I don't think I would do an FF6 map because there are some, both World of Balance and World of Ruin.

Hooray, if you could make this map I would be highly grateful. The size I would like is just 80x80. Nothing too big.

Look at the second map so I discuss the locations using their names.
  • Narawat is swampy.
  • Sarakia is a mixture of hills, desert, and plains.
  • The southern Nothrog should be mostly hilly with plenty of swamps.
  • The northern Nothrog should be mostly hilly and plains.
  • Andover is mostly grassland. It should be nice, healthy, happy land.
  • Llyr should be hilly.
  • The mountains around southern Nothrog should be unpleasant, with a bunch of volcanoes, for example.
  • The river that goes from the southwest coast inland into Tseluse should be navigable by ships. In other words, they shouldn't be the simple rivers that lie between tiles, but rather a 1 tile thick sea.
  • Tseluse should be jungle and forest. At the southern part, it should be mostly jungle.
  • Lands of Kabal should be mostly desert.
  • Denska and Deverenian Empire should be a mixture of plains, hills, and forests.
  • The green areas around Myreth and Tyraniel should be healthy happy grassland.

All of the terrain I mentioned above should be the predominant terrain type in each area. Use your discretion for some of it. For example, I don't want Narawat to be entirely swamp.

These maps are from the game Warlord CCG.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't gotten back to you about the requests. I've been pretty busy, and now I'm moving to a new house, which just makes things worse. Once I'm settled in the new house I'll be able to focus on map making.

Phlegmak: On the navigable river, I assume you don't want any "bridges" across it?

Has anyone made a Narnia map before? I've been thinking about making one when I don't have anymore requests to work on.

I have a request for a Pacific map, preferably 300*300. Northern border should be a bit north of Japan. Western border about half way through China. Southern border just south of New Zealand and Western border should be close to the 120 West longitude or on level with California. The reason I don't like the other pacific maps is that they either are too small, or don't show the area I just specified.
