How can I back up?

On my mom's computer, every six months I would burn a CD and back up "My Documents" folder. That ended on October 12, 2002, when I got my new computer installed. That HP that my dad bought me was crappy - I only had 128MB RAM installed, to begin with - but the worst aspect was that I had no CD burner. So for the past 22 months I have not backed up any data whatsoever. This makes me very nervous because I am paranoid of a hard drive failure and I have nearly two years of data and folder structure changes. I still don't have a CD burner and no easy or obvious way to back up my data.

"My Documents" is 749MB, with 5,623 files and 292 folders, so a floppy drive and the only USB drive I have (16MB) is out of the question. I could possibly cut back on some files (quite a bit of the 749MB is all my camera pictures), but I'd still need a method to store 600-700MB of space.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hmm, do you have an extra hard drive sitting around? If so you could install that and copy the files to that as a backup. Second, where is the old CD burner? Take it out of the old machine and put it in the new one. Even if you can't keep it you could backup your stuff to CD and then take it back out. Third, if your computers are networked together you could transfer the files to the old computer. Fourth, get a CD burner for $30 or a CD burner/DVD reader for $42 at www.newegg.com.

bah, munzy's said pretty much everything I was going to say. :p Networking two pc's together sounds like the easiest and cheapest option to me. If thats not possible or an option, then getting a cd writer from somewhere, either brand new or from the old pc if it' still around, sounds like the best plan.
