How can I conquer a city from sea??

Hi
I want to conquer a city placed on one-square island... is it even possible?
Ships cannnot attack a city and unit cant attact from ship.. how can I make it?

There are units that are capable of attacking from a boat, like the Viking Beserker and the Marine.

Not necessarily, Amphibous War is not a required tech to advance.

I never find myself needing marines. I actually think I've never even built them in C3C. The only game in which I happened to have a one square enemy city to conquer, I happened to be the Vikings...

Me too, never reaseach many non-needed techs

Marines are improved in C3C - if you use them attacking from the sea, they get a 2x attack bonus. So instead of 8 attack, they get 16 (IIRC). That's great for a archipelago map!!
