How can I increase website traffic?

Hey, I gots a question that maybe some of you folks can help me with. Ive been working on a political editoral website called Matt Brown does the News. Based on word of mouth and a few token bits of advertising locally, its developed a decent following. Id like the webpage to expand, but I have not had much luck increasing my traffic.

any tips? do you know how I can add it to google or other searches? Other places I can advertise the site that might help get hits? The link is in my sig.

they have a thing where you have google keywords so if you type in "news" on google and "news" is one of your keywords then it posts a link or something like that
Also I have a site that needs traffic if anybody's interestsd (my own Xerxes gaming forum in my sig)

I'm glad you necroed a ten-year-old thread to say something so profound. I'm positive that, ten years later, this is the answer downtown was looking for. After a decade of his website struggling with low traffic, the realization suddenly hits him that he has to "build it." Genius!
