How do I break into this gig?

They were all at least upper middle class white men. It was all quite embarrassing during that time, to think these idiots were running the city
The speculative point is that had they been entitled upper middle class white women people may have been more tolerant of them being unable so swallow some "dumb negative remarks".
It is not supposed to mean that within the entiled white upper middle class men couldn't or didn't outclass their female peers in terms of general asshatry. But specifically in respect to an entitlement not to be "offended" once one is a member of the entitled white upper middle class one may already do pretty well, but being a woman too can be be additionally beneficial.

I am presuming that the legal action in this anecdote is merely incidental. I didn't really get why the thread shifted so fast from its original topic towards some sort of pro "tort reform" campaign event.

Be a middle class and -age white male. They are the biggest whine babies of this day. Just limit your reading to tabloids and Fox news if you're American, eat up all their distorted outrage news, and complain how minorities have ordinary working people as hostage, and how the world is all messed up when the police and teachers face charges if they try to keep up the peace, and how this all would be better if there were just some more discipline and some (strong leader) stepped up and put a stop to all this nonsense.

Are you referring to the mayor and aldermen that I mentioned? This all happened over 20 years ago, and the mayor in question had only a single term. After all the shenanigans he and the aldermen pulled (their feud was very public and played out every day in the local newspaper), the voters felt they lacked the dignity and professionalism required to be on council, and turfed the lot of them. I don't remember which of them first got offended at which other, but a lot of citizens were offended that our taxes went to pay these idiots' salaries and they were more interested in acting like children on a playground than actually running the city.

Yeah, sure.

But that's mostly failed attempts. They whine and complain and their opposition mostly asserts that they can take it.
Bill O'Reilly is not very successful in rendering himself uninsultable by shrouding himself in the air of a "lady".
I mean, ocassionally he tries, but the result is - mostly - ridicule.

As a thought exercise - since you brought up politics - recall for a moment what kind of remarks one can make with relative impunity on (almost exclusively male) African American Republicans or (almost exclusively male) gay Republicans or, for that matter, Marcus Bachman, gender flip a few cases and ponder how it would play.

This is unclear. Are you saying that hate = a total lack of understanding? I can have a total lack of understanding about something without hating it.

The point was not about hating something. It was about being offended. Hate just happened to spring to mind as something that is offensive. Perhaps that was a poor example.
