How do I run game from Directx?

Hello,

I am getting this screenshot (attached) when I try to load my game. I read in one of the threads you should try launching the game in DirectX or DivX? Can someone please tell me how this is done?

That solution shouldn't apply to you, because you would know how to do that if it would (there should be a popup before game start asking you that, but i guess you never saw this, which can, depending on your machine, be quite normal).

Try clearing the cache: Delete everything in Documents\My Games\Civ5\Cache.
If you are using mods, then deactivate them. If you try to directly load a savegame, then try to start Civ in the normal way.

DivX is a video codex and isn't used for running games.

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately for me none of them solved the problem. I'll just keep searching the forums and try to find a fix.

I was searching the forums and am going to use a work around another person suggested. I was under the impression that if you couldn't load saved games you also couldn't load auto-saves. I just loaded up my last auto-save (10 turns ago) and played again. Going forward I'm going to turn my auto saves to every turn so I don't lose so much game.

Maybe someone else will read this and it will help.
