this has probably been posted before, but i cant seem to find it. So anywayz, does anyone know any good strategies on how to effectively quit playing this game?!?

This game has seriously affected my life in ways i'd prefer it not to. I've had to drop out of uni, my parents have kicked me out. Even my girlfriend has left me, but that was mainly because i keep owning her in multiplayer.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

EDIT: im only joking, just wanted to do something funny...lol

If you keep it around, you'll just be tempted to install and play. Best to uninstall and give it up. Get counseling if it's effected you that much. :(

The only way I know of breaking an addiction to a game is to become addicted to another. That or just sit it out. Keep playing til it is no longer as thrilling, and you might wean yourself onto something else that gives you a larger rush.

I have serveral strategies that guarantee to work or your money back; however, there might be side effects:

#1. Get a job, get married, and have a couple of kids!;)
#2. Join the army and volunteer for Iraq
#3. _________ that could land you in jail for at least a year

Are you really joking? Anyways, if your addicted to this, what's the big deal? I'd rather be addicted to CIV IV instead of smoking.

keep replying to this post all night and Problem solved.

If you were that addicted why are you on the forum?

    Between games?

play diety for a few games you'll soon realise how much you hate the game as you struggle to go above 3 or so cities with science at 10%.

The only issue with this strategy people may say your addicted to the forum. Lets deal with one problem at a time

Every now and then I uninstall the game and swear that I wouldn't play any more games till my said work is done, but then I relapse and Civ IV magically reappear on my computer again. After further analyzing, it seems that this addication is driven by the civfanatics forum, for after reading some articles, I soon hear Baba Yetu beckons me into the realm of armchair emperor/enlightened dictator, next thing I know, it is 3 am, and I have school the next day. Anyone has a cure for civfanatics forum addiction?

Mmmmm...he might never come out!

That doesn't help. They go to sleep eventually...sometimes they take so long, god-f'in-dammit! That's why I only use, ACME brand Sleeping Pills (TM) ~ good for animals up to a horse and safe for children!
