How do i stop playing this game??? too addicted...

Its an evil circle.

Perhaps you could ask a moderator to ban your IP from the site? Might solve one problem but what fun would that be?

You dont discriminate against someone just because they have a problem/ addiction. Although sometimes its cruel to be kind. hmmm wheres that helpful moderator :mischief:

1). Uninstall.
2). Destroy install discs.

Drastic, but it works. This is only effective if you have enough willpower NOT to spend more money on another copy.

You may laugh, but I had to do this when NWN first came out. Grades kept slipping and something had to give. First a good microwave treatment, then a pair of sidecutters finished the job.

It's from SMAX. It plays when you build some base facility for the first time...not sure what facility. This one I enjoy as well:

"Richard Baxton piloted his Recon Rover into a fungal vortex and held off four waves of mind worms, saving an entire colony. We immediately purchased his identity manifests and repackaged him into the 'Recon Rover Rick' character with a multi-tierd media campaign - Tele-Vids, touchbooks, holos, psi-tours, the works. People need heroes - they don't need to know how he died clawing his eyes out screaming for mercy. The real story would just hurt sales and dampen the spirits of our customers.

Don't. Give up. Wear a diaper and get your food delivered. It's for the best.

this has probably been posted before, but i cant seem to find it. So anywayz, does anyone know any good strategies on how to effectively quit playing this game?!?

This game has seriously affected my life in ways i'd prefer it not to. I've had to drop out of uni, my parents have kicked me out. Even my girlfriend has left me, but that was mainly because i keep owning her in multiplayer.

PLEASE HELP!!!

EDIT: im only joking, just wanted to do something funny...lol

Worldbuilder has sapped me of the will to play I think. I haven't touched the game in over a month. Been sorta waiting for the new patch but I think I'm Civ4 ruined.

Seriously, if I do get too into it, I stop playing and I play a game completly different in nature, perhaps a pure FPS, or a Pure RPG...

the stark differences in the games allow you time to reset your brain and renew your intrest...

I find playing too much of any single game makes you good, but becomes detrimental...

That doesn't help. They go to sleep eventually...sometimes they take so long, god-f'in-dammit! That's why I only use, ACME brand Sleeping Pills (TM) ~ good for animals up to a horse and safe for children!

Instead of giving those sleeping pills to your wife and kids, may be you should take them yourself. Btw, I usually take 3 sleeping pills before I start the game to make sure that I will go to bed no more than 3 hours later. It usually work like this: around 9:30 PM, I take 3 sleeping pills, then play civ for as long as I can...usually until around 1:00 AM, then I must goto sleep whether I want it or not.

There is no addiction. Only lies told you by those who do not follow the true path.

Sublimate all and everything to the will of Meier.

There is no other way.

Oftimes the only way an addict can rid themselves of destructive behavior(ie Civ IV)is to supplant it with a habit less destructive...

Might I suggest methamphetamine? Perhaps coke? I would suggest alcohol, but I suspect it is no match for Civ IV's enticing siren song...I even have my doubts whether meth or coke can compete with it at all...

May i just add taking sleeping pills to stop an addiction may lead to other problems. Someone please draw the line here.

first the games

then the forum

sleeping pills

late into work

kids start to get ignored as you continually play all day after work.

Work sacks you cause your always late in

wife leaves with kids

and you spend the rest of your days playing civ 4 peacefully till you get evicted for not paying bills.

At this stage i would suggest a few lottery tickets cause you'll need the money for the sleeping pills to try and stop the addiction.

PS dont forget to say goodbye to the wife / gf when she goes.

Perhaps a virtual girl screen saver at this stage. Im sure you can find them somewhere.

Dont forget to keep the numbers for pizza/ indian and other food shops posted on sticky note on side of monitor. best still add to mobile. You'll need this when the wife goes.

You sure the daze was due to diety?

I suggest better room lighting and less sleeping pills. Also to use your bed now and then.

Maybe try civ. IV on diety, raging barbs, aggressive AI option on, standard highland map, it will be such work to just survive, and it will take the enthusiasm out of playing the next Civ. game game.

Note: Don't play multiplayer Civ games, it will get you more hooked on Civ. 4.

wow, so many excellent ideas!

thx guys, looks like the most common one was to play the game on Diety difficulty. I'll try that first and tell u how i go. In the mean time looking for a job and apartment...

perhaps there is no hope....i am sooo addicted.

I clap and clap when the title track starts up....me so happy
