How do i stop playing this game??? too addicted...

It really is addictive, isn't it? I said to myself I wasn't going to play last nite, but, once the kids had gone to bed completely (around 9:00 pm) and my wife informed me that she was beat and also going straight to bed, I was stuck in a quandry.

I had no intention of going to bed early. There was nothing on television that I was particularly interested in. I wasn't in possession of a new, good book that I wanted to read. I had no work from the office with me that required attention. So, what was I to do?

I sat down at my computer in my office and the next thing I know it's 2:30 a.m. and I am saying to myself " I gotta go to bed if I want to be able to get up in the morning and go to work!" The only positive thing is that I am a smoker and I never once got up during that 5 hour stretch to go outside and have a cigarette (I won't smoke in my house)! At least Civ 4 is helping me quit one bad habit!

Goodness, I sometimes hate having an obsessive-compulsive personality! That and turn-based games just don't mix well! :)

I hit and bypass that alarm more then the snooze button by my bed

I have two suggestions:
1:Break the CD:p
2: Lock it in a cabinet then bury the key in a dumpster.:crazyeye:

Join the Army. You can make real war that way, but you'll find that it can be VERY unhealthy.

Hello.

My name is George.

And I'm a Civaholic.

Use the alarm clock in the game. I ususally force myself to play only 30 minute doses and then go onto more productive things like posting on this forum...

Get civ 4 banned for "Inappropriate Content" by the government

Don't ask me how

this has probably been posted before, but i cant seem to find it. So anywayz, does anyone know any good strategies on how to effectively quit playing this game?!?

This game has seriously affected my life in ways i'd prefer it not to. I've had to drop out of uni, my parents have kicked me out. Even my girlfriend has left me, but that was mainly because i keep owning her in multiplayer.

PLEASE HELP!!!

EDIT: im only joking, just wanted to do something funny...lol

I heard that having an ATI video card can help with not playing civ4. ;)

Give it to a friend?!?!? NEVER!!!!!!! ITS MINE!!!!!

My...Precious....:)

Some addictions are sweeter than others. Civ IV doesn't nag or ask for rent, like those who say they 'love' you do. Oh no! Civ IV treats you right. Civ loves you just the way you are. It never asks you to change.

So why give it up? To be with those who figure you have lots of room for improvement?

Do you hear that? I think Sid's calling ya....

How do you stop plaing this game? You don't. Eventualy you will die, and continue to play in heaven, surounded my geeky angels........

How do you stop?!? You don't. Ever seen or read Lord of the Rings. This game IS the one ring.

One game to rule them all
One game to find them
One game to bring them all
and in the internet bind them

I would suggest taking your copy to Mount Doom and casting it in. Only one problem. With as many copies as there are in the world, you're bound to buy it once again and continue this cycle for the rest of eternity.

Or just wait until CivV comes out. THAT would break my addiction from CivIV.

Connect some wires to your COM port and download the 'electro-shock-at-end-of-turn' mod. Increase voltage when ineffective.

Cover your room with pictures of VICTORIA :mischief:

That reminds me: Modders, how about doing one that replaces the regular leader pictures with hot babes? If Lindsay Lohan asked me for a technology, how could I refuse?
