How does Civ V perform for you?

The game runs really slow and is unplayable at any settings on a new Macbook Pro 15" Core i5, GT330 256MB, 8GB RAM, SSD and high res matte display.

Ok.. MBP's aren't the best gaming computers, but you should be getting decent results on that one. Have you tried opening a ticket with Aspyr? Sounds like something's wrong somewhere..

Late 2009 iMac 21" with C2D 3.06GHz and the dreaded 9400M. It's primarily a video editing machine so it has 4GB of RAM, which is probably why the hesitations and lags are minimal and trivial. I do, however, have every setting on low or minimum. I didn't even know the leaders were animated until someone linked me the youtube clip. I can play at the second highest display setting available on 621a, which is a huge improvement over the default display setting (1024x768). All game settings at standard, I tried once on a duel map with super high settings, and it was virtually unplayable. I do eventually hope to play it at higher settings, as other screencaps and artwork look really nice, but I don't see that happening on this computer.

Basically, it's an older iMac (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) with 2GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro w/ 256MB DRAM

The game runs OK, but feels sluggish, and needs to re-draw the tiles after panning etc. It seems that after I've been playing for a while, the re-drawing is not necessary, and performance is less sluggish. This is for my latest game on a 'Large' map.

How about you guys?

I have the same machine as you, got it about three years ago.
I have all the settings on 'low', nothing else and have pretty much the same feeling for the game. I have completed a huge map though, but I don't think I'll do it again with this set-up. It is definitely a better experience on standard type maps.

I just had a very pleasant surprise. Back in Post #11, I described a problem I had with a time unlimited huge/domination game that completely locked on turn 715. After downloading the latest patch, I decided to go back, reload, and see what would happen. It actually allowed me to continue to play and I have gone through a couple of turns (just having trouble remembering what my strategy and plans were at the time of the game's demise).

I know that according to the Steam update notice for the Windows version, the patch fixed something in the "save" format that kept increasing the memory footprint.

It still takes a little more time to refresh the screen than most people would care to tolerate, but I have come to expect that with the time-unlimited huge games I tend to play, so I am able to live with it as long as it continues to advance.

Here's hoping!

I have an early 2010 MacBook Pro the small one, so I have the 'unsupported' video card. I only have 2 gigs of RAM too right now. I can play but I stick to small maps and it does slow down between turns a lot especially towards the end of the game.

Happy to have Babylon back though. Want Celts or better yet Picts though!
