A couple of them sounded vaguely familiar, but Googling/Wikipediaing them showed I hadn't heard about them. I'm glad I wasn't the first one to vote 0, or I would have felt pretty uninformed. Now knowing that they are mostly involved in the realm of economics, I'm not too surprised I hadn't heard of them - economics has never been an area I've been particularly interested in. While it is important to have people who understand it, I think part of the reason I've generally not been very interested in it is that I associate it as being focused on making money, and that, to me, seems like a poor end goal. It's less clear cut with economics than, say, stock investments, though, as a better economy does allow other areas to progress than pure money, too.

To some people it is.
And in my opinion sports are trivial. I have my hobbies, board & computer games mostly, but I acknowledge they are trivial in the scheme of things & wouldn't be proud to know of Sid Meier but not some guy who's trying to reverse ocean acidification or advance human rights.

Who are you to say what's important to a person and what's not?
Who are you to ask you who I am? :p

They're trivial to me as well, doesn't mean that goes for everyone. Some people dedicate their entire lives to the love of the game, to them monetary theory might seem trivial, and that's just fine by me.

Your evil twin! :mwaha:

Eisenstein sounded familiar, but a quick google search led me to believe I have heard of zero of these people.

Exactly. Why would I memorize the names of people who I honestly don't care about?

Why do you seem to think that you'll be at risk of running out of storage space between your ears if you know stuff not directly tied into whatever it is you care about? If you're not interested in economics then I can certainly understand that; but trying to justify ignorance as though you're running on an old floppy disk drive and just can't decide what earns that last 10k space is rather odd.
