How to invade culturally advanced? (+corruption question)

The AI will attack armies fortified in cities, and a damaged army, and an army blocking them from where they want to go. If they can get past an army, they will, even if it's into a lethally well-defended kill-zone. Once you know the rules, most of the time your armies are safe. They will also bomb an army if they have bombers, so you might then escort your armies with Mobile SAMs. I have never loaded SAMs iinto an army to see if the AI would bomb an army of them. Hmmmm!

I'll ask the more experienced players what they think of this strategy I came up with to avoid culture flipping:
Before I take a city, I use fast units or artillary to remove connecting roads to other cities in the defender's civ while ideally keeping him connected to mine. It can slow down subsequent conquest, but I believe flipping is more likely if the conquered city is connected to its former civ.

I don't think taht it reduces the flip chance either. However it can still be a good idea.

If the city flips back to your opponant, it means that the free defender that they get (plus any others rushed) will be resource-free units. i.e. spears instead of muskets or rifles instead of infantry for example. If I haven't razed an area and I don't have enough units to ensure that the flip chance is 0%, I'll have pockets of fast units ready to recapture any towns that flip. Having weaker defenders appearing makes this easier to put into practice.

Yeah that's horrible really. Somehow a city can overthrow 10 panzer divisions and at the same time install their own just because your "culture" ain't high enough. I belive the troops should have at least been moved to your capital then like when Syria was forced out of Lebanon or something.

Your only real option is to rush a library as fast as possible and let culture rise to 10 so that it reaches a new level of culture and thus hopefully doesn't fall into enemy hands.

Well I think the number and quality of troops in the city should help mitigate the possibility of a flip, but I don't know if that's infact the case.

This has been my experience as well. The last time, a full-strength cavalry army was attacked in a city that was on a chokepoint. Had the city been placed anywhere else, yes, the AI would almost certainly not have attacked.

Did you have enough luxuries??

If so, you could rush a market, and if you really want the city full and have spare troops, disband some units over the city to reach the total shields for the market. And when all the resisters have been captured, arrange them to get max food and turn everyone else into entertainers. Do anything you can to have "We Love the King". This works wonders preventing flips. Next, rush a temple. And finally, a courthouse. Those 3 things allow me to leave only a garrison of 3 units on cities with pop 12+, maybe more if it was the capital, but generally, a small garrison.

On the other hand, if you don't want to spend money on a useless city/don't have enough luxes/don't want to wait/you're mean  , just kill them. Being communist works wonders for this matter. Whip everyone to death to build something fancy, finally leaving just 1 citizen alive. VERY unhappy, but very lonely too, so no big deal. 4 units can control even the unhappiest citizen and prevent the city from flipping.
