How to lock the game in a era?

Can i lock the game to a certain era in custom scenary? or do i need to mod

I think you'll have to mod, since you'll have to remove techs, or make certain ones VERY expensive, so it's take a thousand years to advance past the age you want....

in custom game menu you can set which era you begin the game in. but of course you will advance. the only way to really set yourself in one era is to set the game to start in modern era

I forget which tech you need to discover before doing so, but you can eventually advance to a Future Era. I'm not sure if you can start in the Future Era or not.
