How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

I'm past the nifswap stage now. Now when i try to animate it, the nodes move but the model itself doesn't. I noticed when nifswapping that to paste the model onto the original leader nif, I had to have a node called scene root.00. So I copied the scene root.00, which had the model attached to it... Should I retry making the LH?

I had some similar issues when I started making LHs again myself, so I might be able to help you here. I have a couple of questions first though:

1) Pretty obvious question, but it has to be asked; did you redownload and install Blender and everything in the correct order and with the correct settings? i.e. using the installation rather than application directory when Blender gives the option.

2) Did you base this LH on a "custom" (made by a modder rather than firaxis) leaderhead? This seems to be problematic with the new Blender, I was able to do this before with the old one, but it seems to be problematic now.

I was experiencing exactly what you are experiencing myself and the answer to the first question was no and to the second was yes in my case. After I amended them appropriately it worked fine. That may be your problem.

(1)I did reinstall all of the programs and applications in the correct order. I'm not too sure about installing Blender like the way you described. I do think I installed the others correctly.(should I just reinstall them again?)

(2)I am using a modded LH(Ekmeks Popes) as the base.(I'm guessing I should use the Firaxis LH then)

Also,is it bad if, after you reinstalled everything, you start working on the same blend file you saved before reinstalling?

Any help is appreciated, since this is my first time working with Blender on LHs.

I believe it was better before I changed the names....

I'll try to do that soon. If this works I'll be one step closer to completing Grand Moff Tarkin! Also, do you think you could add an Advanced LH tutorial (If there isn't one already) in the LH tutorial. Do you think you can add me to the student list in the front page, too?

The face works fine now. The suit, on the other hand, is still acting wierd. The hand is the most warped.

who is the base skeleton for animations?

you're using a pope LH right? I think I eliminated the bones for the arms. so what you could do is import the firaxis caesar and separate the hands. then swap them over (a different export). that would fix the hands. the suit you may have to rerig on the ceasar nif instead of the pope.

That's what I've been doing. Now it's saying I can't export the nif because the hands are "unweighted".

Yes,I imported only the Firaxis LH, deleted all BUT the hands, head, and skeleton, and then imported the suit.

I've made sure that the suit was boneless when I imported it. The blend file (with the textures) is attached to this post.

EDIT:Wait, by deleting skeleton, do you mean deleting the skeleton the suit was originally attached to, or delete the firaxis skeleton after I import it?

Alright, once you tell me what I did wrong, that might help me when it comes to future LHs.

Happy Holidays:D

I'm more of a max guy... Is it ok if I export it from blender and import it in max... after editing in max then importing back to blender?
how does the editing affect the animations? If I edit the face, what happens to facial expressions in game?
